English: The Cypriot ambassador's residence (since 1974) located at 1825 24th Street, NW in the Sheridan-Kalorama neighborhood of Washington, D.C. The Embassy of Cyprus is located nearby at 2211 R Street, NW. Built in 1905, the Beaux-Arts style house is a contributing property to the Sheridan-Kalorama Historic District. Its 2009 property value is $3,126,920.
In addition to Cypriot ambassadors (Ambassador Andreas Kakouris is the current resident), notable past occupants of the home include Alfred Mitchell-Innes (Counselor of the Embassy of Great Britain), Horace James Seymour (Third Secretary of the Embassy of Great Britain), John Van Antwerp MacMurray (U.S. diplomat, U.S. Assistant Secretary of State), Frank Sinatra (U.S. entertainer), Peter Malatesta (Aide to U.S. Vice President Spiro Agnew), and Arthur Krock (U.S. journalist). |
