Summary

Description
English: The Turkish ambassador's residence (also known as the Edward H. Everett House) located at 1606 23rd Street, NW in the Sheridan-Kalorama neighborhood of Washington, D.C. Designed by local architect George Oakley Totten, Jr., the Beaux-Arts mansion was built from 1910–1914 for businessman Edward Hamlin Everett. The home and its furnishings were purchased by the Turkish government in the 1930s, and from 1932–1999 the Everett House served as the Embassy of Turkey. When a new chancery was constructed at 2525 Massachusetts Avenue, NW, the Everett House became the Turkish ambassador's residence. The Everett House is a contributing property to the Massachusetts Avenue Historic District and the Sheridan-Kalorama Historic District. Its 2009 property value is $12,349,010.
