Summary

Description
English: Triple-gauge turnout at Gladstone, South Australia. The four rails in the foreground include one rail that is common to all three gauges (the rail on the right) and the gauges are as follows (numbering rails from left to right): broad gauge, 1 and 4; standard gauge, 2 and 4; narrow gauge, 3 and 4. The change-over device (which has two white flangeways) allows the broad gauge and narrow gauge to go straight through, but the standard gauge moves out of the common-rail configuration to become part of a four-rail configuration at the turnout. That configuration is necessary to accommodate the narrow-plus-standard route that enters the turnout from the line on the right.
