Spoken article quality assessment[edit]

Version reviewed: As at 27 March 2008

Technical quality: High

  • Overall very clear.
  • Audio level is slightly too low, I think. I had to turn up the volume quite a lot, which would be a very uncomfortable level for any other audio.
  • Some slight edit "clicks" occur frequently, but overall not too distracting, and audio level remains consistent between each.

Clarity: High

  • A very pleasant voice and accent, though very "soft" - this may account for the low audio level, and perhaps should be compensated for in the processing.
  • Pacing is good, and very easy to understand, though the soft voice trails off (too much?) at the ends of a lot of sentences.
  • Could do with a little more inflection.

Accuracy: High

  • Excellent treatment of the infobox and very competently dealt with the large table.
  • Mis-pronunciation of Rose d'Or (both occurrences), though some might say that it is an "understandable" error for a non-French speaker. However, I would argue that the word is not yet in such common usage by English speakers that anglicisation is acceptable. For info, it should be Rose "door", not Rose "dee-or".

Disclaimer present.
