Playback issue with this file on A-law algorithm[edit]

Hi @MwGamera: I tried to play back this file on the 8-bit linear PCM demo on the A-law algorithm page. It played back really choppy and with frequent cutouts. I later downloaded the file and it was fine. I'm wondering if this is the same for you when you try playing it back? Or perhaps it's just an issue with my browser/machine. All the other files (8-bit A law and 16-bit linear PCM) work just fine both in browser playback and when downloaded. B4shful (talk) 06:59, 5 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

This is surprising, but I managed to reproduce what you describe using Firefox. Looks like the one labelled A-law is also problematic for it, but for some reason only the 8-bit linear gets served directly as FLAC rather than being further transcoded to Ogg Vorbis (which in itself might be not ideal for comparison; I would hope all get processed the same way). I'm not sure what problem does Firefox exactly have with them, but it seems that using a lower 'compression level' of the reference encoder makes it play correctly in it for me, so I uploaded a recoded version. – MwGamera (talk) 11:01, 5 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
