Howard Feldman (neuroscientist)

Howard H Feldman is a professor of neurosciences at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD).[1][2][3] He was appointed director of the Alzheimer's Disease Cooperative Study (ADCS) in April 2016.[4] Prior to joining UCSD, he served as the Executive Associate Dean for Research, Faculty of Medicine, University of British Columbia (UBC) and was the director of the Alzheimer's and Related Disorders Clinic at UBC.[5][6][7]

Early life and education[edit]

He received his MDCM degree from McGill University in Quebec, Canada in 1978.[7][8]

Research[edit]

He contributed to the discoveries of the progranulin and C9ORF72 genetic mutations which cause FTD and FTD with motor neuron disease.[1][3][9]

  • Distinguished Achievement Award for Outstanding Contribution by a Senior Faculty Member from the University of British Columbia in 2008.[1][13]
  • Irma M Parhad Award for Excellence from the Canadian Consortium of Clinical Cognitive Centres for Research (C5R) in 2013.[14]
