Mahmudabad (Persian: محموداباد), also Romanized as Maḩmūdābād; also known as Makhmudabad,[3] is a village in, and the capital of, Khararud Rural District of the Central District of Khodabandeh County, Zanjan province, Iran.[4]

At the 2006 National Census, its population was 2,486 in 558 households.[5] The following census in 2011 counted 2,906 people in 782 households.[6] The latest census in 2016 showed a population of 2,802 people in 782 households. It was the most populous village in its rural district.[2]
