Please remove the link to Wikipedia:Automatic edit summaries. That page goes on about how the user left the summary field blank and the software filled it in for them, and they should have typed a summary, and when people make snap judgements of others based on running their contributions through a script, they count the number of automatic edit summaries and take a high number to be a bad thing. There is no summary field available when adding a new section: the user has no choice but to accept the summary provided here. To be honest, the "added section" bit is completely unnecessary as well. Until now, new sections have appeared in the edit history simply with the name of the section as the edit summary – with no link. This message was only created so that the section could be linked to. Since the section is linked to no matter what this message says, it might as well be blank. At the very least, trim it to "New section" (which is actually the default, I have no idea why it was changed) -- 86.139.86.174 11:22, 6 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I updated Wikipedia:Automatic edit summaries.--Patrick 13:12, 6 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I concur with the anon above. I've removed the arrow for now, I have no objection to removing the rest as well. >Radiant< 14:03, 6 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I concur as well, and have blanked the page - that original change should have been discussed, since it affects so many edit summaries. Nihiltres(t.l) 14:40, 6 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
