History[edit]

OK was formed on January 1st 1978 by merging seven smaller Danish energy companies.

Originally named Olieselskabet Danmark,[1] the company adopted OK's official name OK a.m.b.a. in 1998. The origin of the name stems from the Swedish Oljekonsumenterna which was a majority stakeholder in the company. Although there are no corporate relations anymore, the name proved popular and thus became official.
