From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Parkview Public Library is a public library in Parkview, Johannesburg, South Africa. It is situated on the corner of Athlone and, the busy, Tyrone Avenue. The library is the heart of the village of Parkview.[1] It is a popular destination for children and adults. It has a wide range of fiction books and it has access to free Wi-Fi. It has more than 2500 active borrowers.[2] Parkview is a community library. The community it serves includes a police station, schools (creches, primary and high schools), golf course, and a church. It is close to the famous Zoo Lake.

The organisation Friends of the Parkview Library raises money by having raffles, with prizes donated by the community. They also hold book sales as another way of raising money. They use the book sale money to buy more, newer, books and stocking the library.[2] The library and its community come together to create programmes, fundraising, and facilities management.[3] Libraries are a key part of literacy development.[4]
