The 2006 Rose Bowl Game, which was presented by Citi, was the final game and national championship of the 2005-2006 Bowl Championship Series, and was played on January 4, 2006, at the eponymous stadium in Pasadena, California. The game matched the two remaining unbeaten NCAA Division I-A squads: Big 12 Conference champion University of Texas and two-time defending national champion and Pacific Ten Conference titleholder University of Southern California, said by many to be the greatest college football team in history. Although the game , billed as the greatest championship game ever by ESPN, saw a back-and-forth contest, it was ultimately won by the Longhorns, 41-38, when quarterback Vince Young rushed for a touchdown with 19 seconds to play.
