Portal:Baseball/Selected biography/Nominations

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Criteria[edit]

There are currently only a small number of Baseball-related articles listed as featured articles or good articles, so it's necessary to nominate articles that have not been peer-reviewed. A and B-class articles are acceptable as well. Start and stub class articles should generally be avoided.

While there are no official criteria for what constitutes a Selected biography, you might consider the following questions:

 • Is the prose strong and clear?
 • Is there enough material (generally, 2-3 paragraphs)?
 • Is the material, particularly opinion and analysis, well-sourced?
 • Does the article contain a free (not fair use!) image that could be used on the portal?

Instructions[edit]

Nominate[edit]

To nominate an article as a Selected biography, paste the following markup below the Nominations header:

ArticleName
Nominate: --~~~~

After the word Nominate:, please add a brief explanation of why the article should be featured.

Debate[edit]

Post comments or votes under the nomination:

 • Comment / Support / Oppose

Close[edit]

All debates should remain open for five days, except in cases where the nomination was obviously made in bad faith. An article should never be selected before five days, regardless of how decisive the vote is.

For Passed nominations:

 • Cut and paste the debate source code, including the header, directly under the Passed header on Portal:Baseball/Selected biography/Nominations/2007.
 • Create a new page by clicking on the first available red link under the header Selected biographies.
 • Use your own discretion when deciding what material to include, keeping in mind any suggestions that were made during the debate. Other editors can always make changes later. Ideally, the prose from the article will be strong enough that it won't need to be reworked. The page should contain between two and three paragraphs.
 • If including an image, it should be downsized to 200px. Remember, fair use images are not usable on Portals. Free images only.
 • At the end of the text, include a link to the full article in the following format:
 • On the next line, insert the following code:
