Amaziah employs a mercenary army of 100,000 Israelite soldiers, but is commanded by a prophet to send them back, much to their annoyance. His obedience is followed by victory over Edom. He begins to worship idols taken from the Edomites, which leads to his defeat by the king of Israel. A conspiracy arises which takes his life.
