- 1879 — George B. Selden files a sweeping patent on the automobile.
- 1899 — Olds Motor Works is formed from Olds Motor Vehicle and Olds Gasoline Engine Works.
- 1997 — Chrysler Corporation and BMW agree to build the Tritec engine plant in Brazil.
- 2003 — General Motors' Oklahoma City Assembly plant is destroyed by a tornado. It was reopened just 53 days later after a frantic reconstruction.
