The 2007 Boston bomb scare occurred on January 31, 2007 when police officers mistakenly identified small electronic devices found throughout Boston, Massachusetts and the surrounding cities of Cambridge and Somerville as improvised explosive devices. The devices turned out to be battery-powered LED placards with an image of a cartoon character called a Mooninite. The placards were part of a guerrilla marketing campaign for Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film for Theaters, a film based on the animated television series, Aqua Teen Hunger Force on Cartoon Network's late-night programming block, Adult Swim. The scare was met with criticism from a number of sources such as The Boston Globe, Los Angeles Times, Fox News, and The Boston Herald. A group of police found them to be sharing "some characteristics with improvised explosive devices." These characteristics included an identifiable power source, circuit board with exposed wiring, and electrical tape. Investigators were trying to determine "if it was a hoax or something else entirely". City and State officials came to an agreement with Turner Broadcasting to pay for costs incurred during the incident, while several police departments found many of the devices afterwards.

Aqua Teen Hunger Force (ATHF), currently known as Aqua Unit Patrol Squad 1 (AUPS1), is an American animated television series shown on Cartoon Network's late night programing block, Adult Swim, as well as Teletoon, and G4 Canada in Canada. It is one of four spin-offs of Adult Swim's Space Ghost Coast to Coast, and as of 2011, the longest running original series on Adult Swim. It originally premiered in a block with three other original Williams Street series in December 2000, before Adult Swim officially debuted (the others were Sealab 2021, The Brak Show, and Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law). The show is about the adventures of three anthropomorphic fast food items — Master Shake, Frylock, and Meatwad — and their next-door neighbor in the suburbs of southern New Jersey. While the series initially gave no explanation as to the characters' origins, the 2007 feature film Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film for Theaters revealed that they were created by an anthropomorphic watermelon slice as part of a plot to inherit their accumulated real estate holdings once the characters inevitably killed each other. Since its release, Aqua Teen Hunger Force has developed a cult following, and its popularity resulted in three different spin-offs: Spacecataz, Carl and Soul Quest Overdrive.

Robot Chicken is an American stop motion animated television series created and executive produced by Seth Green and Matthew Senreich along with co-head writers Douglas Goldstein and Tom Root. Green provides many voices for the show. Senreich, Goldstein, and Root were former writers for the popular action figure hobbyist magazine ToyFare. Robot Chicken is a sketch comedy that parodies a number of pop culture conventions using stop motion animation of toys, action figures, and claymation (usually for special effects) and various other objects, such as tongue depressors, The Game of Life pegs and popsicle sticks during a joke about loss of budget. The show's name was inspired by a dish on the menu at a West Hollywood Chinese restaurant, Kung Pao Bistro, where Green and Senreich had dined, although the series originally was intended to be titled "Junk in the Trunk". The show premiered on Sunday, February 20, 2005. It is produced by Stoop!d Monkey, ShadowMachine Films, Williams Street, and Sony Pictures Digital, and currently airs in the US as a part of Cartoon Network's Adult Swim block, in the United Kingdom and Ireland as part of FX's Adult Swim block, in Canada on Teletoon's TELETOON at Night block, in Australia on The Comedy Channel's Adult Swim block, in Russia on 2x2's Adult Swim block, in Germany on TNT Serie's Adult Swim block and in Latin America on the I.Sat Adult Swim block (after being cancelled from Latin Cartoon Network's Adult Swim block in 2008 for unknown reasons).

"Focus Grill" is the thirteenth episode of the fourth season and the series finale of the American animated sitcom Home Movies, and 52nd episode of the series overall. It originally aired in the United States on Adult Swim on April 4, 2004. In the episode, Brendon, Melissa, and Jason decide to finally film an ending to the first movie they did together. "Focus Grill" was written by Brendon Small and directed by Loren Bouchard. Mike Lazzo, an Adult Swim executive, had informed the staff of the show's cancellation during the start of the fourth season production run, so Small ; he noted, however, that it was actually an optimistic note for the series. The episode concludes with Brendon's camera breaking, which Small believed was a way to get rid of the character's metaphorical crutch that he had had for the whole series. The final episode received a largely positive response, with reviewers praising it for its sentimental, bittersweet way of concluding the show. Small received various e-mails from fans who informed him that they cried while watching "Focus Grill".

Metalocalypse is an American animated television series, created by Brendon Small and Tommy Blacha, which premiered on August 6, 2006 on Adult Swim. The television program centers around the larger than life death metal band Dethklok and often portrays dark and macabre content, including such subjects as violence, death, and the drawbacks of fame, with extremely hyperbolic black humor and often gets a TV-MA V rating. The show can be seen as both a parody and celebration of heavy metal culture. The music is written by guitarist/creator Brendon Small, is credited to the band, and is featured in most of the episodes. The animation is often carefully synced to the music, with the chord positions and fingering of the guitar parts shown in some detail. The show has been picked up for a fourth season. For season four the show will be returning to the original 11 minute run-time. Season four is expected to air April 15, 2012, and will consist of 12 episodes.

Frisky Dingo is an American animated cartoon series created by Adam Reed and Matt Thompson for Adult Swim. The series revolved around the conflict between a supervillain named Killface and a superhero named Awesome X, and much of the show's humor focuses on parodying superhero and action movie clichés. It debuted on October 16, 2006 and ended its first season on January 22, 2007; the second season premiered on August 26, 2007 and ended on March 23, 2008. A third season was in development, but in the absence of a renewal contract from Adult Swim, pre-production ceased. The production company itself, 70/30 Productions, subsequently went out of business in January 2009. A spin-off show, The Xtacles, premiered on November 9, 2008, but only two episodes were aired prior to the production company's dissolution.

The Venture Bros. is an American animated television series that premiered on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim on February 16, 2003. The series mixes action and comedy together while it chronicles the adventures of the Venture family: well-meaning but incompetent teenagers Hank and Dean Venture; their emotionally insecure, ethically challenged super-scientist father Dr. Thaddeus "Rusty" Venture; the family's bodyguard, originally the ultra-violent and macho secret agent Brock Samson and his later replacement, reformed super villain and "cured" pedophile Sergeant Hatred; and the family's self-proclaimed arch-nemesis, the Monarch, a butterfly-themed super villain.

Sealab 2021 is an American animated television series. It was shown on Cartoon Network's adult-oriented programming block, Adult Swim. It premiered on November 23, 2000 and the final episode aired on April 25, 2005. Sealab 2021 is one of the four original Williams Street series that premiered in 2000 before Adult Swim officially launched, the others being Aqua Teen Hunger Force, The Brak Show, and Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law. Much like Adult Swim's Space Ghost Coast to Coast, the animation used stock footage from a 1970s Hanna-Barbera cartoon, in this case the short-lived, environmentally themed Sealab 2020, along with original animation. While there was initial resistance from several of the original series' creators to the reuse of their characters, production moved forward on the series. Sealab 2021 was produced by 70/30 Productions, which eventually closed in January 2009.

The Brak Show is an animated television series that aired on Cartoon Network's late night programming block, Adult Swim. The Brak Show is a spin-off of the animated television series, Space Ghost Coast to Coast, and featured recurring characters from Space Ghost Coast to Coast and Cartoon Planet. Both programs used stock footage from the Hanna-Barbera cartoon Space Ghost. The protagonist is Brak, voiced by Andy Merrill, who developed a quirky persona for the character. The Brak Show premiered on December 21, 2000, and ended on December 31, 2003, with a total of twenty-eight episodes. An extra webisode debuted on Adult Swim Video on May 24, 2007.

Space Ghost Coast to Coast (often abbreviated SGC2C) is an American animated parody talk show hosted by the 60s Hanna-Barbera cartoon character Space Ghost. The show premiered on April 15, 1994 on Cartoon Network. Though originally intended to cater to a wide audience of children, teens, and adults, Space Ghost Coast to Coast became more offbeat and edgy in its direction, and transformed into the launchpad for what would become the Adult Swim network. Space Ghost Coast to Coast had a TV-PG rating on Cartoon Network but then changed to TV-14 when the series was moved to Adult Swim.
