The Time Lords are a fictional civilisation from the planet Gallifrey, portrayed in the British science fiction television series Doctor Who, of which the series' main character, the Doctor, is a member. Time Lords are so called because they are able to travel in and manipulate time through technology to a far greater degree than any other civilisation. It is also implied heavily in the series that there are those from Gallifrey that are not Time Lords though it is not stated categorically either way (see Trial of a Time Lord, among others).
