The 2/6th Cavalry Commando Regiment was an Australian Army regiment of World War II. The regiment was formed as part of the Australian 6th Division in October 1939 and saw action in the North African campaign and Syria-Lebanon campaign as an armoured reconnaissance unit. During these campaigns the Regiment fought in Libya, Egypt, Syria and Lebanon against Italian, German and Vichy French forces. The Regiment returned to Australia in 1942 and was converted to a non-armoured commando unit in 1943. In this role the regiment and fought in New Guinea against the Japanese. The 2/6th Cavalry Commando Regiment was disbanded September 1945.
