Z Special Unit was a joint Australian, British and New Zealand commando unit, which saw action against the Empire of Japan during World War II. Z Special Unit was formed in June 1942 and carried out 284 covert operations in the South West Pacific theatre. The best known of these are a canoe raid on Singapore Harbour, and the subsequent Operation Rimau, in which all 23 participants were either killed in action or executed. Z Special Unit was disbanded following the end of the war.
