  • October 30th, 2006: The band Oasis have been named best act at this year's Q Awards. [1]
  • October 27th, 2006: Deutsche Oper, the Berlin Opera house, has announced that its performances of Mozart's opera Idomeneo will now go ahead. The performances were originally cancelled because of fears that scenes in it would offend Muslims and threaten the opera house's security, but the cancellations drew widespread criticism. However, the police have now stated that there is "no concrete danger" if the performances go ahead. [2]
  • October 3rd, 2006: Steve Reich, the American composer and one of the pioneers of minimalism has turned 70 years old. [3]
