1951: As Typhoon Amy moved slowly across the Philippines, the volcano Mount Hibok-Hibok erupted several times. The typhoon killed nearly 1,000 people across the country, and the volcano killed or displaced nearly 30,000 people due to these and other eruptions in the surrounding days.
