So, I'm curious if we're gonna have any kind of standards for what to include here, like, should the birthday of every anarchist we can think of be included? Should anything be excluded? Murderbike (talk) 00:30, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

I'm afraid we can't really afford to have particularly high standards, since finding enough facts for all 365 days (come to think of it, 366 days) of the year. I'd prefer only including facts that are mentioned in Wikipedia articles and avoiding red links. I'd also avoid using too wide a scope, when determining what is and isn't anarchism, and including things like the anti-globalization movement, indigenous movements (EZLN, for example), or other left-wing movements, such as the mainstream anti-war movement. I think the fundamental criterion should be whether the person or organization in question calls or called him/her/itself anarchist. That's just my notion of how it should work, so you may disagree with me.--Carabinieri (talk) 00:59, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
What you said makes total sense. Before I go about trying to add stuff, has there been a method to what has been added so far, so I don't just go through articles finding redundant info? Murderbike (talk) 02:10, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
I started adding a bunch of stuff. Is the plan just to migrate out of your userspace once the calendar is full? Murderbike (talk) 03:59, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
I've just been going through the articles I wrote myself (and some other ones) and adding any events I found to be notable and had a specific date for. Another option is the Daily Bleed calendar. I can't think of a more effective way of doing it. I'd like to migrate all these pages from my userspace to the portal space as soon as possible. We'd just have to make sure to not get red links on the portal as the result of not having any entries for a particular day.--Carabinieri (talk) 11:24, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
So does that mean you don't want to migrate before all the dates are filled in? That might be awhile at the rate we're going. Murderbike (talk) 19:58, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
Geez, here's a question. I just went to the first empty date on the Daily Bleed, and got the death of Alexander Herzen, but it says the date given was "Old Style" date. Does it seem we should have to maintain consistency with this, and probably stick with New Style? Murderbike (talk) 20:02, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
I have now created a "Things To Do" section, so as far as I'm concerned, we can start migrating them as soon as possible. We just need to be careful to always have dates filled in when they come up. The calendar appears to be filled in through the middle of February (though many dates don't have an image or contain red links), so that won't be much of a problem for now.--Carabinieri (talk) 15:50, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

Cool, I'll finish up February (and I think Cast said he'd do March?), and try to pick images for some of them. I tried really hard to not throw in any redlinks, but there were days where I couldn't find anything else, and the redlinked subject totally deserved an article. Hopefully that won't be too much of a problem in the future. Murderbike (talk) 20:24, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

I just discovered a method to find events for a certain date using AWB: I've created an AWB list of what should (theoretically) be all anarchism-related articles on the English Wikipedia using the anarchism category and its subcats. I then create another list of all articles that link to the page on the date I'm looking for, and then have AWB find all intersections between the two lists. This usually returns somewhere between zero and ten articles. I then check these articles for eligible events. Unfortunately, this list of articles often include ones with an internet source that was last accessed on the date in question. If you want, I can send you my list of anarchism-related articles.--Carabinieri (talk) 15:50, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

Hey, do we have to worry at all about having too MANY listings in a date because of weird formatting stuff at all? Murderbike (talk) 22:46, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
