Naming of Mexican municipalities articles[edit]

While doing some work on the lists of mexican municipalities I realized that most (say 90%) of the municipios are named after the municipal seat. My question concerns the naming of those articles as to differentiate town from municipality, as well as municipalities of the same name in different states ("Juárez" is a popular one, for instance). As there is no consensus yet in Wikipedia:Naming conventions (subnational entities) I'm asking here for some guidance/discussion. Regards. -- Rune Welsh ταλκ 00:30, 25 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

How does the portal work?[edit]

Hi, I love the idea of making a portal for Mexico, and would love to participate, but how does it work? Who gets to choose the featured picture or the feature article? Or does anyone can edit it? How often should they be changed?

Reviving this thing[edit]

The Portal has been neglected since Hajor's departure and I think it'd be a shame to leave lying around like this. I'll try to update it at least once a month, by the end of the second week of each month. Input and criticism are welcome as always. Saludos. Rune.welsh 19:59, 13 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The latest changes were great. It looks really well with everything in 2 columns.--Fito 01:57, 20 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! -- Rune Welsh | ταλκ 02:08, 20 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
A good way to have it update automatically is to use {{CURRENTWEEK}} variables in the name of subpages, and then to make sure there is an ample reserve of articles in stock. Have a look at Portal talk:Tropical cyclones to see how we're doing it over there. Titoxd(?!? - help us) 02:55, 1 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Current featured article[edit]

Why is the Mexico Movement the current featured article? They are a United States group. And where did the info "or A J" come from?--Rockero 22:40, 23 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

IT IS AN INTERNATIONAL POLITICAL MOVEMENT AND HAS ASKED HILLARY CLINTON IN THE USA TO DEFINE HER POSITION ON IRAQ AND SHE HAS YET TO DO SO.

The section was "hijacked" by an anon a while ago. I have reverted this change to the original version. I'll try to update the Portal today. -- Rune Welsh | ταλκ 11:34, 24 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I thought this was supposed to be a portal on MEXICO, not a political american group. This article should be removed from this portal because it seems like there is a political agenda since its a bit longer than most others

...in the History of Mexico[edit]

Where do you get the information? I want to create the Portal in the german Wikipedia and I want to know where I can get the information, who was born on January, February etc. Thanks. --Henning Ihmels 20:26, 8 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

In case you speak Spanish, the Efemerides on the INEP is an excellent source. Mixcoatl 22:40, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I know there are a lot here but many are very short stubs. If there are a lot of grammar mistakes, just tag it with a clean up tag. I did not require that they wikify the articles due to time. Final versions for grading purposes are due Tue Feb 5 so any help you can give would be appreciated.
