Rahaman Abiola is a Nigerian journalist, editor and a fact-checker.[1] He has been named to the Africa Advisory Council Board by the International News Media Association.[2] Rahaman is the editor-in-chief for Legit.ng.[3]

Education[edit]

He graduated from Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife, Osun state, with a degree in English and Literature. Additionally, he is the beneficiary of the Nigeria Health Watch Solution Journalism Fellowship (2022)[4] and the Kwame Karikari Dubawa Fact-checking Fellowship (2021).[3] He has a certification in digital journalism from Reuters News Agency.[citation needed]

Career[edit]

Rahaman is an editor and digital journalist with background in human interest, politics and current affairs reporting. He has training from Reuters and is a 2021 fact-checking fellow at Dubawa. He is an ex Editor-in-Chief for the Association of Nigerian Authors. He has worked as a reporter for INFOCUS Nigeria, The Pointblank Nigeria and Daily Insider Nigeria. His works has been published in The Nation, Punch, Nigerian Tribune, The Guardian, Dubawa, The Cable, Sahara Reporters, Lawyered, The Next, Naija Review, and others. He is also a board member on the International News Media Association Africa Advisory Board.[5]

LEGIT.ng[edit]

Rahaman started his career at Legit.ng as a junior politics and current affairs editor in 2018. He was promoted to senior sports editor in 2019 publishing on Legit.ng and other sister news outlets like Yen.com.gh, Briefly.co.za and Tuko.co.ke. In 2020, he became the senior politics and current affairs editor and was made the head of human interest and diaspora desk in 2021. In 2023, he was assigned as the Editor-in-Chief at Legit.ng.[citation needed]
