Sagir Adamu Abbas is a professor, Nigerian academician, administrator, and 11th substantive Vice-Chancellor of Bayero University Kano.[2]
Early life and education[edit]
Sagir was born on April 22,1962, at Yan Katifa, Kantudu Madabo quarters of Kano Municipal Local Government Area, Kano State.
Career[edit]
Abbas started his career as a lecturer at Sa’adatu Rimi College of Education Kumbotso, in the Department of Mathematics. Sagir Joined Bayero University Kano as Assistant Lecturer in 1991. Sagir held some positions from Head of Department of Education, Sub-Dean, Deputy Dean, to acting Dean, Faculty of Education.
Sagir was appointed Director of Development Office where he served between 2004 and 2007, Sagir Abbas was appointed Senior Special Assistant to the former Minister of Education, Professor Ruqayyah Ahmed Rufa'i between April 2010 to September 2013. Sagir was the Director, Directorate of Research, Innovation, and Partnerships. The Governing Council of Bayero University Kano appointed Sagir on Thursday, 26 March 2015 as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academics where he succeeded Professor Hafiz Abubakar, who was the running mate of Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje in the 2015 Nigerian general election.[3]

Achievement as Vice chancellor[edit]
Under the leader of Sagir Abbas the 11th vice chancellor Bayero university Kano state, BUK have made a lot of achievements one and has been ranked higher in international standard with various Awards.And under the leadership and the vice chancellor of the great citadel of knowledge, BUK student were Hired to work part time as students in the school community. part of the part time job is to monitoring the school facilities, cleaning of the school environment and they are getting paid for this at the end of the month.[7]
under is watch as a vice chancellor of the university, Bayero University was rank among the best universities in the sub Saharan northern university in Africa.[8]
On the 22 of July which is the 56th university congregation meeting, Sagir Abbas the vice chancellor announced to the entire staff both teaching and non teaching, about the millions of naira that has been allocated as palliative in other to ease the current situation that is faced by many,due to the increments in petroleum and the registration. He also affirm that there will be non interest loan available to the staffs.[9]
