Simon Mayne (c. 1644 – 1725) was MP for Aylesbury from 6 April 1691 to 28 January 1696 and again from 1705 to 1710.

Biography[edit]

Mayne was the first-born son of Simon Mayne and Elizabeth.

In 1604, his great-grandfather purchased the manor of Dinton, Buckinghamshire. His father also served as MP for Aylesbury and was one of the regicides of Charles I. As a result, he had his estates forfeited to the crown and died in the Tower of London in 1661. Mayne repurchased the lease and the tithes of Dinton which had been forfeited from his father and obtained a regrant of them for 31 years in 1694. He had been living in Dinton since at least 1668, and from 1671, his children were regularly baptised there.

Mayne was buried in Dinton in 1725.[1]
