Instructions for nominators[edit]
This page is for those nominations that have already been approved and are waiting to be promoted. If yours has been approved but has not yet been run on the main page, it should either be on this page or will soon be moved here, or already promoted to a Prep area or Queue ahead of an appearance on the main page.
If you wish to create a new nomination, please go to the Template talk:Did you know page; there are instructions there in a section similar to this one on how to nominate an article for DYK.
Frequently asked questions[edit]
Backlogged?[edit]
This page is often backlogged. As long as your submission is still on the page, it will stay there until someone promotes it to a preparation area. To alleviate this problem, if the approved page has more than 120 approved hooks, then sets will change twice per day (every 12 hours) instead of once per day (every 24 hours). When the backlog falls below 60 approved nominations set frequency returns to once a day.
Where is my hook?[edit]
If you can't find the nomination you submitted to the nominations page, and it also isn't on this page, in most cases it means your article has been approved and is either in one of the prep areas, has been promoted from prep to a queue, or is on the main page.
If the nominated hook is in none of those places, then the nomination has probably been rejected. Such a rejection usually only occurs if it was at least a couple of weeks old and had unresolved issues for which any discussion had gone stale. If you think your nomination was unfairly rejected, you can query this on the DYK discussion page, but as a general rule such nominations will only be restored in exceptional circumstances.
Instructions for other editors[edit]
How to promote an accepted hook[edit]
- See Wikipedia:Did you know/Preparation areas for full instructions.
- In one window, open the DYK nomination subpage of the hook you would like to promote.
- In another window, open the prep set you intend to add the hook to.
- In the prep set...
- Paste the hook into the hook area (be sure to not paste in that that)
- Paste the credit information ({{DYKmake}} and/or {{DYKnom}}) into the credits area.
- Add an edit summary, e.g., "Promoted [[Jane Fonda]]", preview, and save
- Back on DYK nomination page...
- change
{{DYKsubpage
to{{subst:DYKsubpage
- change
|passed=
to|passed=yes
- Add an edit summary, e.g., "Promoted original hook to Prep 3", preview, and save
- change
How to remove a hook from the prep areas or queue[edit]
- Edit the prep area or queue where the hook is and remove the hook and the credits associated with it.
- Go to the hook's nomination subpage (there should have been a link to it in the credits section).
- View the edit history for that page
- Go back to the last version before the edit where the hook was promoted, and revert to that version to make the nomination active again.
- Add a new icon on the nomination subpage to cancel the previous tick and leave a comment after it explaining that the hook was removed from the prep area or queue, and why, so that later reviewers are aware of this issue.
- Add a transclusion of the template back to the nominations page so that reviewers can see it. It goes under the date that it was first created/expanded/listed as a GA. You may need to add back the day header for that date if it had been removed from the nominations page.
- If you removed the hook from a queue, it is best to either replace it with another hook from one of the prep areas, or to leave a message at WT:DYK asking someone else to do so.

that this year's inductees to the Delaware Sports Museum and Hall of Fame include someone with Down syndrome who can lift up to 425 pounds (193 kg) (pictured, left), an "average gymnast" turned one of the world's best gymnastics judges, Delaware's "preeminent sportswriter", the state's "greatest high hurdler", the man who "practically invented the modern sports mascot", a record-setting 10-year-old, a U.S. champion gymnast, an Olympic field hockey player, and a professional baseball player in five countries?Source: see all the respective articles- Reviewed: Template:Did you know nominations/Grave with the Hands; Template:Did you know nominations/National Women's Basketball Association; Template:Did you know nominations/Iona Allen; Template:Did you know nominations/Drew Golz (2/3); Template:Did you know nominations/New England Revolution in international competition; Template:Did you know nominations/Ukraina, North Dakota (2/2); Template:Did you know nominations/List of presidents of Centre College; Template:Did you know nominations/Chesterfield Market
- Comment: Trying my craziest DYK nomination ever! Have been working on all the inductees for this year, only just realized that it'd probably be an awesome mega-hook (there has been precedent for similar things in the past; see Wikipedia:Did you know/Multiple Article Hook Hall of Fame).
Note that two do not yet qualify (Van Sickle, Brumbaugh - why I haven't bolded yet), as I still need to 5x expand them, but I needed to make the nomination now so the oldest one (Raymond) would still be eligible.I also have a date request if this goes through: the hall of fame is inducting the mentioned sportspeople on May 23 this year. I think it would be really neat if this could be scheduled for then. Thanks!
Number of QPQs required: 2. DYK is currently in unreviewed backlog mode and nominator has 152 past nominations.

Van Sickle andBrumbaugh are not yet ready – I'll make sure to 5x them within the next three days (nominated now so as to not exhaust 7-day eligibility of Raymond). - Expanding Brumbaugh is taking longer than I thought, but I'm almost certain I can have it done by the end of tomorrow. BeanieFan11 (talk) 23:26, 26 March 2024 (UTC)
- Was able to finish Brumbaugh tonight. Needed to be 10,725, now is at ~13,000 bytes. @TonyTheTiger: All the articles are ready for review now. (Still have to do the QPQs, of course). Also, tell me your thoughts of the date request I mentioned? Thanks! BeanieFan11 (talk) 01:20, 27 March 2024 (UTC)

- First, the image file is properly PD.-TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 03:48, 6 April 2024 (UTC)
- I'll leave it to the promoter to decide between the various tweaks. I would prefer the shortest just because of the overall length of the hook, but the promoter is free to make the final choice. I remain intrigued and await further detail on Cannon as time permits. Nothing is necessary now though, but keep in mind when this goes on the main page, it may be the most pageviews that any of these pages ever receives. You may want to put everything you can into it before the main page run to get feedback from all those eyeballs. Everything is in order for a DYK run. -TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 03:57, 6 April 2024 (UTC)
- Great. Thanks for the reviews. I'm going to open a discussion about getting this featured on the requested date, as mentioned at the DYK guidelines. So to anyone looking at this: don't promote yet! BeanieFan11 (talk) 16:28, 6 April 2024 (UTC)

- Other problems: - The link is too long, even if it contains the article title; I recommend splitting it and only bolding "2024 opening of regular sessions" and linking separately to the National Congress of Argentina. An ALT hook that mentions why the opening was held later might also be good to have.

Overall: Hook is interesting and the article is in good shape. I'll leave it up to the nominator or promoter to change the hooks in the way I suggested, but won't fuss over it. Added clarification tags where needed. SounderBruce 04:51, 27 March 2024 (UTC)

- Better, although I see that the hook - and given that at least one DYK regular refuses to add extraneous links to hooks, I will be approving ALT0 - does not have an end-of-sentence citation, which is needed per WP:DYKHFC.--Launchballer 21:35, 30 April 2024 (UTC)

- The citation is at the end of the paragraph and covers all of it. Repeating the same citation at each sentence is Wikipedia:Citation overkill, but if that's what this process requires, I have done so anyway. Cambalachero (talk) 16:26, 2 May 2024 (UTC)

- The article is new but not long, thanks to the presence of that maintenance template demanding a section expansion and a lede merely consisting of an opening sentence. It has an image licensed for fair use but lacks a suitable caption, as well as a few questionable sources, such as RPGamer (cite 14). Furthermore, no copyvio or plagiarism concerns (assuming good faith on non-English language sources) and the hook is cited and is fine. Nominator is exempted from doing a QPQ, but they should be credited on this DYK as the "nominator" as opposed to mainspace mover, who is actually User:Kung Fu Man (diff). - @Launchballer: I was actually called out by Kung Fu Man in my talk for calling that source unreliable (and deservedly so): apparently, WP:VG/S says otherwise. So, mea culpa. Granted, the claim about the character receiving a "mixed reception" needs a reliable, third party source before I can pass this. Nineteen Ninety-Four guy (talk) 08:41, 22 April 2024 (UTC)
- I gave it a go, but did not find any sources mentioning any mixed reception. Any commentary on the character I did find was hardly mixed. Coverage of this character seems to be mainly positive, the only criticism calling him a cliched villain. (Retro Gamer issue saying this.) Kung Fu Man is better versed in this subject than I am, they may know of a source for this that I missed. Also I already mentioned this on Nineteen Ninety-Four Guy's talk page, but apologies for misattributing myself as the article author. If I knew where to discuss the nomination form, I would request the field to be moved closer to the actual article fields, as it just seems like a poor design choice to have the article credit not with the status field. detriaskies 23:06, 22 April 2024 (UTC)
- Getting rid of that topic sentence works also; it's synthesis anyway. Let's see if Kung Fu Man concurs. Nineteen Ninety-Four guy (talk) 05:22, 23 April 2024 (UTC)
- Generally with character articles it's the norm to include a starting line explaining a summary of the reception a character received be it positive, negative, or mixed. While there is some praise, sources [11] and [12] (particularly 12) are more critical of the character, and even more positive sources also voice criticism. This is similar wording I've used in many other articles without any issue of synthesis.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 05:42, 23 April 2024 (UTC)
- I'm afraid this only proves that it does badly need an RS; using other articles to justify an edit not in conformity with WP's guidelines is bad practice. Either back that up with a source or get rid of it. Your call. Otherwise, my nom rejection stands. Nineteen Ninety-Four guy (talk) 09:18, 23 April 2024 (UTC)
- If I remove it, when I get to GAN I'll just have the reviewer requesting such a statement be present, I've written enough of these to expect that. Removing it to appease you then add it back later to appease the majority defeats the point, no offense meant. So if it fails DYK, it does.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 16:09, 23 April 2024 (UTC)
- It sounds like there is a much larger issue at hand if one editor is calling it synthesis while another says GAN reviewers request it. detriaskies 16:50, 23 April 2024 (UTC)

Just a quick note, as someone who write a lot of reception sections on various media. I think we have to remember what "mixed" means. It does not mean "medium". It means "it varied". So, it's not really that tall of a hurdle to warrant its use. Any time you have some both positive and negative sentiments you can pretty much rightfully include it. And honestly, with the way many editor tend to POV-push positive sentiments for things they like (or the opposite for things they dislike) I think its honestly commendable that a more neutral route was taken here. Unless there's actually good-faith confusion on whether or not there is both positive and negative sentiments present in the section, I don't believe its WP:OR. ALTs 0, 1, 2, 3 or 4. - Note to promoter and admin: if you want to remove the word "ever" or "life" from a hook while in prep, that is fine by me; I understand the point made above. However I also understand that the readers will get that the hook is referring to official records of the player's professional life only. So I don't mind either way, but please change it if it worries you. Storye book (talk) 16:29, 2 May 2024 (UTC).
- Suggest inverting all of these hooks to put the bolded article link earlier, which also allows the omission of various unnecessary words. - I could use some clarification. I'm not sure which paragraph you are referring to or which source. Is the issue a matter of how sections/paragraphs are arranged or is there an aspect that is not reasonably complete? This source mentions the 2005 ban in South Korea but makes no mention of legality in other countries. gobonobo + c 17:51, 19 April 2024 (UTC)
- I did mean that source. What I meant was that the source says "According to a report, South Korea alone imported over 8000 kg of mad honey from Nepal during 2003–04 and then, further import was banned by the Korean government in 2005." The 'imported over 8000 kg' bit could go into the article. I'm not holding the nom up for it though, and given that I've merged it into the above section myself I can pass this.--Launchballer 15:42, 21 April 2024 (UTC)

- Interesting life and work, on fine sources, offline sources accepted AGF. The hook works for me. The image is licensed and an excellent illustration not only of the person but also the period at a glance. I have a few points about the article that you may consider, irrelevant for DYK.
- Her name. I would not call her Kimball until she is married.
- I would - as you know - whenever a composition has an article, mention the composer only by last name without link, to avoid two links in a row, and to link the more specific thing. People who really don't know Rossini can find that in the Stabat Mater article, - Stabat Mater as a standard Latin phrase like Magnificat not needing italics.
- GSL - I would link to Großes Sängerlexikon, - as written, with the two authors, it sounds as if two people had arrived at the same view independently. I strongly recommend to use the actual link to page in the latest edition.

- I have a hard time with the wording "They had one daughter together" - why not "They had a daughter"?
- Second image: I'd find it better on the right side, making her "turn in" (the posture rather than the eyes), and use standard upright size.
- I am not sure that "beautifully conducted" is the right term for "schön geführt" talking about voices, but am too unfamiliar with such technical terms in English to recommend something better.

The hook checks out in its current state, but I think it's a bit excessively in length. How about something like "... that after failing to qualify for prestigious races, Mounir Akbache became a rabbit?" I think you can make this a great quirky hook by playing on the rabbit line without actually explaining what that is. Makes people wanna click to learn more. Source 1 states: "The number of sit-down strikes in 1936, 1937, and 1938 by months, with the number' of workers involved, is given in table 16."
Table 16 lists the same numbers of strikes given in source 2 below. It lists workers involved as follows: 1936: 87,817 1937: 398,117 1938: 28,749
Source 2 states: "In 1936 there were 48 so-called sit-down strikes. In 1937 the number increased to 477, but by 1938 they decreased to 52. There were only 6 strikes during 1939 in which all or part of the strikers remained at their workplaces for one or more days after ceasing work. he number of workers idle in connection with these 6 strikes was 3,416, although the number participating in the sit-down or stay-in feature is not known."
This sentence involves a very encyclopedic form of synthesis in that it adds numbers from two consecutive studies by the same source. Similar synthesis, but without inclusion of the latter number appears in Sidney Fine's book Sitdown, cited in the article.

- I've reviewed the Earwig similarity report, which highlights passages that are either in quotes or comprise part of citations (including the journal name and another cited article). The longest passage is the summary of the Matignon Agreement, a quotation I don't think I can improve upon. I've revised the article to reduce the amount of material directly quoted from Torigian and from Adamic, but keep Adamic's longer definition and Torigian's POV that the mid-1930s strikes were a distinct phase of using the tactic. Let me know whether you think these changes sufficiently reduce the reliance of direct quotations.--Carwil (talk) 13:29, 15 April 2024 (UTC)

- Alt2 ... that the Chestnut Street Opera House (pictured) was bequeathed to the University of Pennsylvania to fund women's education?
- Comment 4meter4 I was amused by "the very best people" in Alt0. I had something like Alt2 in mind in case an alt was needed. Alt1 could possibly be shorter, hopefully I got the legal jargon right. The picture is slightly skew, it would be nice to rotate it if it went to main page. TSventon (talk) 13:22, 22 April 2024 (UTC)
- @TSventon I like the quote too, I'm just not sure the fact is interesting enough by itself to get people to come to the article. They might mistakenly assume the theatre wasn't around for very long based on that short blurb. As for the image issue, if you look at the original much larger sketch, you'll see that the building is tilted, but I am not sure if this is because the artist drew it that way or because the artwork was creased/damaged. See: https://www.philadelphiabuildings.org/pab/app/im_display.cfm/502809?ProjectId=EBAD9819-D04B-4FB2-819CEF615254FC04 Best.4meter4 (talk) 13:39, 22 April 2024 (UTC)
- Alt1a ... that a will bequeathing the Chestnut Street Opera House (pictured) to the University of Pennsylvania was contested at the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania?
- It probably is a skew issue, probably for paper damage, which might be fixable especially for this crop. The image is acceptable in license. New ALT1 is fine (AGF). ALT2 is fine and checks out to source. I don't like the wording on ALT1 with "Pennsylvania" twice. 4meter4, I had to make a lot of small copy tweaks to the large addition that was made; you should read MOS:DATECOMMA. Sammi Brie (she/her • t • c) 17:47, 22 April 2024 (UTC)
- @Sammi Brie Thank you for the copy edit. I appreciate your help. As for the wording... this isn't a case of improper word redundancy. There isn't a way to remove the word Pennsylvania as the proper names of both these organizations include that word. The University of Pennsylvania is the University of Pennsylvania, and the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania is the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania. If we remove the word Pennsylvania from the university it could be any university rather than the well know Ivy League school. Likewise, if we remove it from the court, readers would likely assume it was the national Supreme Court and not a state Supreme Court. I don't see any way of rewording this without it ending up in Wikipedia:Main Page/Errors and loosing 'hookiness' for lack of a better word.4meter4 (talk) 18:12, 22 April 2024 (UTC)
- I agree—it's redundant and looks off but is needed to avoid obvious confusion. It's kind of why, if I were a promoter, I would skip it. But I want the promoter to choose the hook. Sammi Brie (she/her • t • c) 18:25, 22 April 2024 (UTC)
- That's fair. The wording may read awkwardly to some people even if it is technically a necessary redundancy. I personally would pick it anyway because I believe it is the most interesting fact (to me anyway) among the hook choices. I guess it depends on whether one prefers style or substance (not that the other hooks are lacking substantive value).4meter4 (talk) 18:36, 22 April 2024 (UTC)

- I'm guessing the first hook is meant to say "dispute between himself and Stan Lee"? PanagiotisZois (talk) 12:31, 23 April 2024 (UTC)
- Will perform the review. Have a mild interest in the article, and just found out Jim Steranko did concept art for Coppola's Dracula; what a nice coincidence. Anyway
- The article is new enough, having been created only about 8 days ago, which is when this nomination took place. It also has the appropriate length, being very in-depth, and well-sourced; most sources are offline from books, but I'm assuming good faith, especially given the nominator's track record. It is very much presentable, and has three images; one is the writer-artist and is CC, while the other two are the cover of the last issue of this story and an example of Steranko's visual style, which is brought up in the article itself, making them both appropriate.
- On hold All of the hooks are present in the article itself and properly cited. Finding the best one is somewhat tricky, as there's what the nominator finds most interesting, what I find most interesting, and what will help the article achieve the most views. Hook #3 is mildly interesting as you have the primacy effect, but I don't think it will hook many people in, so it's the other two. Either one could work, but I'm leaning more with Hook #1, mostly because it also references Stan Lee, which is a name that will attract views. The mention of a "dispute" between them is also kind of juicy. Admittedly, I found the full context behind their "dispute" kind of boring (lol), but at least the hook did its job. Unless @Morgan695: has a different hook to suggest, the only thing remaining is the QPQ. PanagiotisZois (talk) 23:19, 23 April 2024 (UTC)

Article is new and long enough. Sourcing looks good though Earwig found a handful of word-for-word similarities with "theage.com.au" source. A minor issue with each of the proposed hooks: ALT0 says that Williams was Victoria's most high-profile prisoner - the body of the article supports that but the sources seem to claim he was just a high-profile prisoner. ALT1 says they threw feces at a member of the jury but the article and sources only say "excrement". Both hooks are interesting however. QPQ is not required so just need hooks fixed and that should be all. PCN02WPS (talk | contribs) 15:31, 20 April 2024 (UTC)
- @PCN02WPS: Thank you for taking the time to review! I have reworded the article in most cases where Earwig's Copyvio Detector identified an issue but I think a lot of it falls under WP:LIMITED, or are quotes. Climate of Triton

(2014) "Encyclopedia of the Solar System" Chapter 40 - Triton https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/B9780124158450000402 (on ScienceDirect) Source says: At the limbs, clouds could be distinguished from haze by being optically thicker and localized both in height (10 km or less) and in horizontal extent (patchy, and mainly concentrated at mid to high southern latitudes, where they cover one-third of the limb). The sharp upper boundary of the clouds suggests that they consist of condensed nitrogen rather than involatile solids like the haze. (p. 873)

- Interesting bio on fine sources, no copyvio obvious. I like the original hook and approve that one. It clearly says that Spider is a Black woman musician, which I miss in all ALTS, and actually also in the lead of the article; I think that her Nigerian background should be mentioned there. My English is not good enough to tell a difference between "on the grounds" and a simple "because", but I know that the former phrase appears in the article in two sentences in a row, which I believe should be avoided. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 11:51, 27 April 2024 (UTC)

- Given that it is midnight for me (in the UK), I will expand this article and think of a compliant hook ~10 hours from now after my sleep. I may even have to think about a hook that doesn't have something to do with the lo-fi music. JuniperChill (talk) 22:59, 22 April 2024 (UTC)
- Done the expansion to at least 1500 characters (can also be 1.5kb), now I am thinking of the following hooks.
- ALT2: that Mohammad Fahmi, the main creator of Coffee Talk died in March 2022, after the sequel was announced?
- ALT3: that Coffee Talk Episode 2: Hibiscus & Butterfly was released after Mohammad Fahmi, the main creator of Coffee Talk, died in March 2022?
For both, the sources came from https://www.eurogamer.net/coffee-talk-creator-fahmi-has-passed-away
- No, it can't "also be 1.5kb" - WP:DYKRULES specifies "1500 characters". ALT3 is the better hook, although I'd expect a more merciless prepbuilder to truncate it at "died". Full review needed.--Launchballer 10:45, 23 April 2024 (UTC)

- The hook has the right length and is interesting. The part of the hook on him being hired and the quote itself is well sourced. However, I struggle a bit with the part on him being "a critic of the spoils system". I think you rely here on Smith 1981 (pp. 82–83). I see that he criticized particulars of the spoils system there. Maybe a weaker statement like "[...] who had criticized the political patronage system earlier [...]" would be more reflective of the source? What do you think?

- Hi! I agree it wasn't the clearest way to word it. The Nama Assemblage is often defined chronologically (as the fauna from ~550 to ~539 million years ago, or from the first appearance of Cloudina to the first appearance of Treptichnus), but sometimes on the basis of fauna, with holdover fauna from the previous epochs not being considered part of it, with the chronological definition then called "Terminal Ediacaran biozone". It was mostly to explain why some of the fauna isn't always considered Nama, but that could be further expanded instead in the "Definition" section. I have plans for further expansion of the article (currently in User:Chaotic Enby/sandbox), and I will be happy to reorganize the article and expand it further if needed. - Though Earwig found likely copyvio, it's basing that off of a direct quote from the contents of the proposal, an open and free document that is properly attributed to, so it shouldn't be a violation. - "Kirchick cites the different government reactions as a reason why during the 1980s the rate of HIV infection in the Great Britain was just 10 percent of that in the United States" This sentence may still need work. I can't see the full context or what source he cites, but I looked it up and ran the numbers for 1989, at which point the number of infections was 20 times larger in the US which also has 6x greater population. That does point to a substantial difference but doesn't support Kirchick's argument. I would prefer to cite epidemiologists for claims about the causes of different prevalence rates.
- Stand-alone "defense" and "criticism" is typically integrated into one reception section, maybe put the defense last since the criticism section sums up the overall view.
- "In 2015, following the release of the short film When AIDS Was Funny, renewed criticism from progressive media ..." I don't see where the sources discuss progressive media. If they are being cited as examples of progressive media, this paragraph likely falls foul of WP:NOR (and UNDUE).
- "However, it is controversial whether Reagan himself could be considered homophobic, or if his personal views on homosexuality affected his AIDS response." part 1 is a false dichotomy, part 2 is unprovable (and I'm not seeing anywhere the opposite argument is made). The ultimate controversy/criticism is not about what Reagan believed but what he did, the article should reflect the bulk of the legacy section.
- "Timeline of the Reagan administration's AIDS response" If you keep this section everything needs an inline citation. (t · c) buidhe 17:22, 26 April 2024 (UTC)

- Having read the article, I'd suggest additional hook proposals be proposed because the currently-proposed hook isn't really that interesting by itself. There's no shortage about possible hooks here, with the Production section itself being full of possible material. One possible hook could be how the original choice for cinematographer had to back out due to his wife's childbirth, but there are also other possible options. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 12:33, 27 April 2024 (UTC)
- @Narutolovehinata5: Hi Narutolovehinata5, thanks for reviewing the article! I actually think quite the opposite. I chose the current proposed hook because Chang Chen is a veteran actor with over 40 years of experience and has participated in numerous Hollywood projects, but this is his very first time serving as a producer. On the other hand, the cinematographers weren't really big names that would arouse anyone's interest, and dropping out of a film project sounds too common and trivial. While writing the article, I actually thought of two potential hooks (didn't include them initially as I thought the current one was better):
- 1. ...that the 2024 romance film 18×2 Beyond Youthful Days was purposefully filmed in Japan during March, taking advantage of the country's seasonal change to capture both snowfalls and cherry blossoms in the same month?
- 2. ...that Greg Hsu took a hiatus from filming the 2024 romance film 18×2 Beyond Youthful Days to attend the 59th Baeksang Arts Awards but returned to the set the very next day?
- What do you think?—Prince of Erebor(The Book of Mazarbul) 12:51, 27 April 2024 (UTC)
- @Prince of Erebor: The main concern I have about the original hook is that if the reader wasn't familiar with Chen, the significance of the information wouldn't be as obvious. He isn't a household name like say Jackie Chan. Having said that, I like the first option. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 12:55, 27 April 2024 (UTC)

- @Narutolovehinata5: Huh? I don't understand. The current hook above "...that the 2024 film 18×2 Beyond Youthful Days was purposefully filmed in Japan during March, leveraging the country's seasonal change to capture both snowfalls and cherry blossoms in the same month?" is the revised hook. It is 197 characters long. Is there a bug or something?
- The nomination has been pending for nearly a week, and there are no further improvements or revisions needed. As I have exams coming up next week and am becoming busier, would you mind expediting the review process a bit? Thank you!!—Prince of Erebor(The Book of Mazarbul) 05:02, 2 May 2024 (UTC)
- That is weird. When I copy-pasted the hook the one I copypasted was over 200 characters excluding the dots at the start. I must have copied from an old revision of the page. in any case, 197 characters, while acceptable, is still on the long side and I wonder if it could be shortened further since that length is not ideal. If not, I'll accept it as is. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 05:42, 2 May 2024 (UTC)

- Thanks! The article is new enough and free from close paraphrasing. The current hook is interesting and cited inline; it is cited to a Taiwanese source so AGF on the reliability, but the provided English translation and a Google Translate translation check out. A QPQ has been done. There's only a minor issue in that I would suggest including a sentence or two about reception in the lede for completeness sake, but as this isn't a GA that isn't really something that should prevent approval, it's just a suggestion. Earwig has a high score for copyvio detection, but that's entirely due to Messi's paragraph-long statement in the "Departure and Japan trip" section, which has an inline citation to the flagged source. - New enough, long enough, and properly sourced. No QPQ needed. Earwig found no problematic copied wording. Good-enough hook, but one must synthesize a couple pieces of information in the article to obtain it: the "largest township" part is at the end of the town section, dated to the early 19th century, while the "deserted" part is at the end of the "clearance" section. In fact both facts are adjacent in the "Maverick Guide to Scotland" source, with much tighter dating (largest in 1815; cleared between 1814 and 1818) and to avoid problems with WP:SYN the article would benefit from making them adjacent somewhere within it, footnoted to that source. Also, "deserted" is maybe a euphemism for what happened. —David Eppstein (talk) 18:14, 26 April 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks David. What if the sentence in the Town section said "Before the clearance, it was the largest of 49 townships in Strathnaver"? That would would be consistent with the Maverick Guide guide source and not change up the current before-during-after structure. I could also change the sentence in the Clearance section to say "completely deserted by 1818" to avoid any ambiguity.
- I think "deserted" is, from a NPOV, the end result of what happened, it describes what's left. You could say "forcibly depopulated" or something but I think "deserted" is clear enough and used in the sources. -- D'n'B-t -- 18:42, 26 April 2024 (UTC)
- To me, "deserted" is an accurate and neutral description of the state of the place now, but not of the process by which it reached that state. How about

Overall: I prefer ALT1 to ALT. The hook length is acceptable for both. ALT has a couple of issues: the title of the article does not appear, but more importantly, the idea of the office's powers is not clearly conveyed: it currently says "for over 200 years until 1968 with the power to prevent ANY new play from being performed". However, those powers were somewhat restricted after 1843, so to say ANY new play could be restricted after 1843 is perhaps misleading. This hook could be rephrased slightly, but at this point, for both reasons, I recommend ALT1 instead. Mary Mark Ockerbloom (talk) 23:47, 28 April 2024 (UTC)

QPQ: Done. |
Overall: I don't see anything in the guidelines about QPQs needing to be done recently, but this one was done in 2021 and hasn't been used as a QPQ by the nominator before. If that's okay, then this nom is good to go. voorts (talk/contributions) 23:15, 28 April 2024 (UTC)
- Voorts, thank you for the review, I tried to do a few QPQs before I needed them and they have got rather old. Fortunately WP:QPQ says QPQs do not expire and may be used at any time for a future DYK nomination. TSventon (talk) 00:09, 29 April 2024 (UTC)
- @Voorts and TSventon: I cannot confirm in any sources that this was the first known skeleton. Maybe first "complete" can be investigated if sources support? I do see a source for "Peale eventually founded the first natural history museum in the United States". But I do not know about the reliability of the source (czasopisma) - that can be investigated for a hook idea, or you can introduce a different hook. Bruxton (talk) 15:39, 2 May 2024 (UTC)
@Voorts and Bruxton: I was trying to put the hook in my own words and overdid the paraphrasing. When Semonin says the skeleton was complete I think he meant almost complete so I have reworded the article and the hook. Peale's museum as "the first natural history museum in the United States" is arguable, but would need more work. This argued it was not.

- Final free-QPQ nom from nominator. Article of sufficient length and newness. Hook interesting and cited in source (well, quoted inline). Earwig detects no copyvio aside from again direct quotes. Good to go. Juxlos (talk) 06:12, 1 May 2024 (UTC)

Overall: Thanks for creating this. I've read some interesting first person accounts that mention the women Russian exiles. Please tag me once the missing citation is added. Mary Mark Ockerbloom (talk) 01:33, 30 April 2024 (UTC)
- @Mary Mark Ockerbloom: I'm confused as to why this claim needs a citation? She collaborated on Lavrov's Vpered, was involved in a Narodnik organisation, was tried in two mass trials of Narodnik revolutionaries and actively organised with other Narodniks for decades. Is it not exceedingly obvious that this was the movement she was involved in? --Grnrchst (talk) 08:12, 30 April 2024 (UTC)
- @Grnrchst: Yes, but all of that relies on the reader having knowledge of what that movement was and who it involved. For a Wikipedia reader who follows the hook to a topic that they aren't knowledgeable about, none of that is obvious. So I would suggest adding a sentence or phrase later in the body that in which you explicitly use the term Narodnik, with a citation to something that clarifies or at least uses that term.
