Joaquim Gentil Caetano Netto or Joaquim Caetano Gentil Netto?[edit]

This chess player's name is uncertain for me. In a photo gallery in the city of Águas de São Pedro, in the caption of a photograph his name appears as "Joaquim G. Caetano Neto." In the references of this article, more precisely the newspaper Correio Paulistano, he appears only as "Caetano Neto" (with one "t"). However, in the sports column of newspapers in Rio de Janeiro, he appears in several chess tournaments as "Caetano Netto," and seems to have even been champion in the state tournament at least once. In the same newspapers in Rio de Janeiro, the name of a Petrobras employee named "Joaquim Caetano Gentil Netto" also appears several times. I find it hard to believe it is a coincidence: they are the same person. There is even his death notice online.

There is one more thing, however: the chess player appears under the name "Joaquim Gentil Caetano Netto" on chessgames.com website. This is the spelling of the name in the article, for now.

So I ask: what is the correct spelling of his name? I am grateful to anyone who can clarify this doubt, if possible by citing sources. Agente Rolf (talk) 03:08, 4 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
