Language?[edit]

Quick question...if this is the English language wiki, why does this page's title use three letters (out of five in the word) not found in the English language? Can we use "Thrud" as the title and put the Norse spelling of the name in parentheses in the body like with, say, Russian or Greek names elsewhere on Wiki?

1) The Russian and the Greek don't use the Latin alphabet.

Honestly, I question the wisdom of this policy. As the OP said, this is the English language Wikipedia. If I searched for "Thrud," (the Norse/Germanic demi-goddess, not the comic character) and the first result that pops up is "Þrúðr," I'm going to assume that that wasn't what I was looking for, because I can't even pronounce Þrúðr. Thorn and Eth aren't part of the Latin alphabet. You have to go into the foreign characters section of most Character Maps to find them. Since the same goes for the Greek and Cyrillic alphabets, shouldn't the same reasoning disqualify giving priority to Norse spellings? Wikipedia is intended for the average reader, not just scholars, isn't it? --JDspeeder1 (talk) 08:02, 20 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
