Confusion[edit]

12097 Peterlowen -- according to any recent Minor Planet Circular, the naming of asteroid (12097) 1998 HG121 has not been officially published. The anonymous Wikipedian who insists the naming took place also posted a convincing screenshot of a document. I have now contacted the Minor Planet Center requesting clarification. Note, I have previously removed the naming "Peterlowen" from the minor planet list (as I do with all names that were not officially published) but I will refrain from doing so until the MPC replies. Follow-up: The MPC confirmed that this minor planet has not been officially named 12097 Peterlowen. I also undid the edits made by the same editor concerning 10923 Gabrielleliu. Both pages are now redirects to the (officially) unnamed bodies. Please note that my future edits on the subject will be referred to this post without any further explanation.
