Page title[edit]

This article's title (before alteration by DISPLAYTITLE) is /2016Album/ due to technical issues. W: is the interwiki prefix for Wikipedia. The W: (or at least :) is mandatory when linking from other namespaces, to prevent / from being interpreted as a subpage prefix. Certes (talk) 14:15, 10 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

/2016Album/W/2016Album/ – This article currently does not show the proper title due to technical restrictions. The new title is closer to the real title than what the current title displays. Other languages for this article also use "W/2016Album/" so this article should as well. Blubabluba9990 (talk) (contribs) 20:11, 2 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support. Proposed title is closer to the actual album title, without needing to resort to contrived lookalike characters. Comparing to other pages with slashes in titles, such as Biel/Bienne or White Light/White Heat, it also appears that the proposed title will successfully avoid technical issues. W/2016Album//2016Album/ – Revert the previous move, which seems to have been based on a misunderstanding - the article previously did display the correct title using DISPLAYTITLE, and now instead has to have a hatnote, which is plainly inferior. You can see this by looking at /2016Album/, showing the proper title in the header. * Pppery * it has begun... 16:55, 14 August 2023 (UTC) — Relisting. ❯❯❯ Raydann(Talk) 22:40, 21 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose. The title of the album is not either "2016Album" or "/2016Album/". Since the "W drive" portion appears to be part of the spoken title of the album, it is not simply a stylization. The previous move request was accurate in noting that the colon could not be used in the display title, but that the addition of the W would bring it closer to the actual version; it did not mean that "/2016Album/" itself displayed incorrectly. Does the example I provided (https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=/2016Album/&redirect=no) not show that the colon can be used in the displayed title? * Pppery * it has begun... 14:46, 22 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I'm not sure whether I missed something last time, or if there is some variation in what we are seeing due to different software. I had no trouble pulling this up on mobile now. Support (but oppose the alternatives suggested above that alter the contents of the title). Dekimasuよ! 00:29, 23 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
    Colon_(punctuation) show that unicode has several colons. -- 67.70.25.80 (talk) 21:53, 24 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • To hopefully make this easier to close, I would prefer both the IP's suggestion of using a unicode colon and 2016Album to the status quo, although I still prefer my original nomination to either. * Pppery * it has begun... 03:03, 28 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per nom. This seems to always be stylized with W:/ / (to the extent it is a stylization of anything, rather than just a name that happens to be a filename), so per WP:TMRULES we should style it likewise. DISPLAYTITLE is no bother, and I see no benefit in using W:/2016Album/. That, 2016Album, and the current title each prevent the correct title from being displayed (but are fine as redirects, of course). SilverLocust 💬 00:03, 29 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Also, it is worth noting that W:/2016Album/ resolves to /2016Album/, since W: is an interwiki link to enwiki. So the only place the W: wouldn't appear is in the URL, since https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/W:/2016Album/ likewise simplifies to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki//2016Album/. • Move to 2016Album per Pppery. That's the real name and all other fiddling around is in contravention of MOS:TM.  — Amakuru (talk) 14:51, 6 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

That's the real name[citation needed] and all other fiddling around is in contravention of conformity with MOS:TM.

I would support 2016Album only if there is at least one reliable source that uses that to refer to this album by Deadmau5.
MOS:TM: Do not invent new styles that are not used by independent reliable sources. ... Do not "correct" the spelling, punctuation, diacritics, or grammar of trademarks to be different from anything found in reliable sources SilverLocust 💬 23:40, 9 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Support as nominated. Closest thing to the actual title. W/2016Album/ will always exist as an {{R from restricted title}}. No evidence this is just stylization for the sake of stylization. CLYDE TALK TO ME/STUFF DONE 02:41, 12 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Note that W꞉/2016Album/ was just created today by StartOkayStop as a redirect to this article. It is not the same as W:/2016Album/, as it uses a colon letter rather than a colon punctuation mark. It took me a while to figure out the difference. — BarrelProof (talk) 21:16, 14 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
