Why the delay?[edit]

Pope Nicholas II died on 27 July 1061. The election did not begin until 30 September. Why the long delay of 65 days? In the 11th and 12th centuries, the normal delay, embodied in Canon Law, was three days. The article does not explain, and needs to.
