On September 4, 1956, an order was released by the Minister of National Defence rozformowaniu 2 KPanc. 11 DZ and subordinate commanders Silesian Military District. In summer 1957 the reorganization of the division was carried out, and in April 1963 it reorganized as the 11th Armoured Division.

In 1990 the division was reorganized as the 11th Mechanised Division. In September 1991 the division lost the distinguished name "Dresden".

On July 13, 1992 the division received a new name for the distinctive "Armoured Cavalry" and adopted the heritage of tradition, following large armored units: 10 Cavalry Brigade from 1937 to 1939,

10th Armoured Cavalry Brigade from 1939 to 1942,

1 Armoured Division 1942-1947. At that time, her full name was -11 Mechanized Division Armored Cavalry named for Jan III Sobieski.

September 11, 1992 with the names of divisions struck the word "mechanized" and added the word "King". From that day on the full name of the division was, -11 Armoured Cavalry Division to them. King John III Sobieski.

On December 1, 1992 the 16 Engineer Battalion at Zary was renamed the 11th Sapper Battalion. On October 5, 2001 the division was subordinated to the commander of the 2nd Mechanized Corps, and March 25, 2004 Commander Polish Land Forces.

September 1, 2003 the division received another distinguished name "Lubuska". After rozformowaniu 4 DZ and 5 DZ remains the only tactical compound Army stationed in the province. Lubuskie (in Skwierzyna stationed 61 Skwierzyńska Rocket Air Defense Brigade).

In 2006, the structure of the division are excluded 4 Zielonogórski anti Regiment in m Czerwieńsk. In its place, the commander of 11 DKPanc. subordinated to the 69 Regiment of anti- Leszno.

From 30 June 2007 disbanded stationed at garrison o Wędrzyn 15 Armoured Wielkopolska Cavalry Brigade to them. Gen. Wladyslaw Anders.
