Tonnage[edit]

According to the article, the tonnage of each ship was over one million. A source is given, and while I don't have access to it, I somehow doubt this. Gog the Mild (talk) 18:47, 6 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Gog the Mild: The figure was a mixture of two separate tonnages, which I've corrected using the same source. Pickersgill-Cunliffe (talk) 19:14, 6 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Pickersgill-Cunliffe: I thought it might be, but it gave me a good chuckle. Thanks for sorting it out. Any chance of a similar tweaking of the tonnage in the main text? Meanwhile, you may care to opine here? Gog the Mild (talk) 19:31, 6 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Gog the Mild: Thanks, I'd missed that in the text. Ship naming conventions state "do not use the HMS prefix for English ships from before 1660. The term "His Majesty's Ship" was introduced around 1660 and was routinely abbreviated HMS from about 1780 onwards". Pickersgill-Cunliffe (talk) 19:48, 6 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
