Quake name[edit]

Is this quake usually known as the "Great Neapolitan Earthquake?" Because normally, by Wikipedia standards, it would be called something like "1857 Basilicata earthquake." See, for example, List of earthquakes in Italy. Rees11 (talk) 00:26, 2 October 2009 (UTC) i thik it is — Preceding unsigned comment added by 117.224.17.246 (talk) 05:28, 28 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Depth of focus etc.[edit]

The second paragraph of the section on "Scientific study" gives the length of the "fissure" as 10 miles, its height as 31 miles and the depth of focus as 65 miles. Mallet actually estimated these parameters as 9 miles, 3 miles and 5.75 miles respectively (Davison 1921), so I don't know where these other numbers were taken from. As I work on expanding the article I will be correcting these. Mikenorton (talk) 19:34, 10 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
