Just copying from a secondary source without any further research is no good idea. The results section contains loads of errors and mistakes. I think it would be better to remove the overall times, stage times, the stage distances and the winner's speed.
I have edited the intro and corrected some errors (Amédée Bollée instead of Léon Bollée Automobiles; Name of 'Giraud'; winners of stage 3 and 5), but did not change anything else so far. Maybe the opening author wants to do it by himself?
My sources are: contemporary french daily newspapers and Pierre Souvestre, Histoire de l’Automobile (1907).
- Thank you for the help. Which contemporary French daily newspapers? Do you have links? Gallica links? Please add them. The original article conforms to English Wiki practice and quotes the sources used, but if your changes are not supported by sources they will be reverted. If necessary the article can be written to accommodate both sets of results, caveating the differences (See Paris–Rouen (motor race) where the contemporary newspaper probably got things wrong 'in the heat of battle'.
- If you add the original French links I will be happy to verify and expand as appropriate. It is a job on my task list because I also want to confirm the claim that Baron Etienne van Zuylen and his wife Hélène van Zuylen used the pseudonyms Escargot and Snail.
