Electorate and turnout[edit]

If the electorate was ~1,430,000 and the votes cast were 641,000-odd, then the turnout was 44% not 62%. Not exactly a ringing endorsement for the political class.78.19.220.3 (talk) 12:07, 12 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

It's not that simple. Turnout is calculated using the number of voters who were able to cast a vote – i.e. without including registered voters who were in uncontested constituencies and not able to participate. Number 5 7 12:17, 12 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Do we not know what the 'Total Electorate' numbers werefor all those contested constituencies? I am interested in knowing whether'abstentionism' played a seminal role in the resuts? For instance were anti-treaty people likely to stay at home more so than those who recognised the Free State? Ériugena (talk) 17:42, 26 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
