Flint[edit]

The Flint team in this tournament, aka Vehics, is not from the Detroit Major League(pro) like the other three Detroit representatives. Holley, Scots, and Wood were exempt DML teams. Flint IMA is from the amateur Detroit American League 'A' division (of which there was also B, C, D, and junior). The Flint Major league team was eliminated in the qualifying rounds by their amateur counterparts. Also of note: at this point All Scots are the oldest team in Detroit and coming off 3 straight MI State cup wins while Wood Hydraulic is only in its second season but competitive having acquired top players some from Chicago teams.

The New York Hungaria team automatically advanced to the second round on account the New York First German squad was playing 'outlaw' soccer. This situation was a product of the Soccer Wars going on at that time and anyone not aligned with the USFA was not recognized and therefore barred from competitions.
