Todo[edit]

It needs at least a one sentence description of every storm to be a start.--Nilfanion (talk) 09:11, 9 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Half done. Thegreatdr 04:12, 6 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I added Philippine names, though I'm not certain Deling is the same as 8W and Yaning is the same as 25W. Good kitty 16:52, 6 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
All storms from the JTWC report now added. Thegreatdr 22:43, 6 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Timeline[edit]

At first, after adding it in, nothing showed up. Now, the bar graphs show up, but no words are. I've contacted the author of the 2007 Pacific typhoon season timeline to enlist some help. Thegreatdr (talk) 17:30, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Should 10-minute winds be included?[edit]

Obviously basing the article on JMA data doesn't work too well for pre-2000 seasons, but right here its values are taking precedence in the infoboxes. That's a flaw with the template, which I will have to look at when I am not so busy. Right now, is it too inconsistent to show 10-minute wind values along with 1-minute ones? Would the article be comprehensive enough without them? Potapych (talk) 13:31, 31 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

GA Review[edit]

This review is transcluded from Talk:1982 Pacific typhoon season/GA1. The edit link for this section can be used to add comments to the review.

Greetings all reviewers. As far as I can tell, this is one of the first Pacific typhoon seasons to attempt GA. The big question is, does the lead have enough season information, or do we need to add an extremely long season summary? Thegreatdr (talk) 16:28, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Thegreatdr im going to review this article for GA since i havent contributed significantly to this article Jason Rees (talk) 23:47, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  1. The first thing is the "W suffix" that is attached to the end of the tropical depressions monitored by JTWC in 2008 however when i checked the 1982 JTWC Annual Tropical Cyclone Report i found that they didnt attach them so the sentance that says the W suffix is attached needs to be removed Jason Rees (talk) 23:58, 30 October 2008 (UTC)  Done Thegreatdr (talk) 04:33, 31 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  2. Whats a Tropical depression, Tropical Storm, Typhoon and Supper Typhoon? - Whilst i know what they are, someone new to this article might not have the technical knowledge to know what they are so i suggest adding in the JMA and the SSHS Scales. (I think i did a template for the JMA Scale when i did one for the Australian Regions scales and RSMC La Reunions) Jason Rees (talk) 00:07, 31 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I added in a see also to tropical cyclone scales in the beginning of what will be the season summary section, currently under storms. Thegreatdr (talk) 04:44, 31 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  1. Im not going to hold the text of the timeline not showing up against you as i know theres a massive problem with it as a whole within WPTC Jason Rees (talk) 00:09, 31 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  2. Add total depressions to the Infobox Jason Rees (talk) 00:10, 31 October 2008 (UTC)  Done Thegreatdr (talk) 04:36, 31 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  3. Instead of having PAGASA Names 1963-1988 as an External Link have it as a Reference Jason Rees (talk) 00:22, 31 October 2008 (UTC)  Done Thegreatdr (talk) 04:47, 31 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  4. I am concerned that you have 25 References to the 1982 ATCR whilst this is acceptable i would like to see some references from some of the other warning centers - eg: The Hong Kong Observatory has a report on the 1982 season here.Jason Rees (talk) 00:44, 31 October 2008 (UTC)  Done Thegreatdr (talk) 17:25, 31 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  5. The USD Damage needs to be reported in a common way as in Nancy's section you report that nancy caused "$46 million in damage (1982 USD)" Whilst in Mac's section you report that mac caused "US$1.5 million (1982 dollars)"Jason Rees (talk) 00:44, 31 October 2008 (UTC)  Done Thegreatdr (talk) 04:41, 31 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  6. If we are going to link to the Eastern Pacific in the lead then we also need to link to south of the equator Jason Rees (talk) 00:48, 31 October 2008 (UTC)  Done Dealt with this by removing link from lead. Thegreatdr (talk) 04:38, 31 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  7. Add in to the lead about the JMAs International numbers Jason Rees (talk) 01:04, 31 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  8. As for the lead it should be fine after those tweaks that i have suggested be made - Though i would add a new section called season summuary to the article Jason Rees (talk) 01:06, 31 October 2008 (UTC)  Done Thegreatdr (talk) 16:35, 31 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Im Going to place the article on hold whilst the comments above are dealt with

I believe I have satisfied your first round of comments. Let me know if anything else is needed. Thegreatdr (talk) 17:25, 31 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yep you have the only thing that needs doing is the Season Summuary needs Spliting off from the list of stroms but since thats only a minor thing ill pass the article - Well done Jason Rees (talk) 17:34, 31 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It is done. Thanks for the review. I left a comment on the 1939 Pacific typhoon season talk page (the other Pacific typhoon season GA) to add a seasonal summary. Before this review, I was uncertain whether or not we were using the same criteria for the Pacific typhoon season articles that we use in the Atlantic season articles. Thegreatdr (talk) 17:59, 31 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
To be honest i prefer this format than the Atlantic one for the season articles allthough we need to have a look at the post 2000 PTS format as we have so many storms/depressions that the JMA do not upgrade Jason Rees (talk) 18:11, 31 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
