- The government[which?] uses 2,5-dimethylhexane to check the power to weight ratio that it create to see if it is fit for the use in low flight and/or private helicopters. With the weight being a factor in long distance flights it is crucial to find a stable flight fuel that can be transported easily, is readily available and will create generous amounts of power when burned. Although the carbon composition is the same as regular octane, it carries more of the properties of hexane.
