Corporate contributions[edit]

The article currently states that Ashcroft had "a larger budget than Carnahan that included controversial contributions from corporations" such as Monsanto. First of all, the word "controversial" should not be used without citation here; see WP:LABEL. Second, I doubt that the Ashcroft campaign received any contributions from corporations, because corporations had been prohibited from making direct contributions to candidates for the U.S. Congress since 1907. What is probably meant here is that he received contributions from individuals associated with the corporation and/or the corporation's political action committee. --Metropolitan90 (talk) 18:49, 23 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
