Some comments...

  • where a dam was opened and inundated the town overnight. - a dam being opened usually signifies deliberate flood-mitigating procedure, but this sounds more like a breach/break. Clarify?
  • It was deliberate though. I added "excess water" to the storm's section, and "deliberately" to the lead. That work? ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 20:41, 18 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • and used the Dvorak technique to estimate intensity - probably not a big deal, but do they use an automated Dvorak algorithm?
  • Offshore, between 1,500 and 2,000 fishing vessels lost contact with the mainland. [...] Thousands of fishing vessels were lost during the storm, leaving 950 fishermen missing immediately after the storm, which prompted a helicopter search. - I think this might need to be reconciled a bit. I'm not sure whether there's a distinction between the first and second lines in this excerpt, and it's a little jarring to read that less than a thousand people were missing on upwards of 1,500 ships.
  • I removed the "thousands of fishing vessels" part, didn't realize it was there before. However, the sources are unfortunately contradictory. The initial report was that there were 1,500 to 2,000 vessels missing. Sadly, there was no update, and the next report said 950 fishermen missing, but despite several hours of searching, I never read of their fate. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 20:41, 18 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Aided by low wind shear beneath the subtropical ridge - this is major nitpicking, but low shear is no "aiding" factor... it's just not an inhibiting one.
  • the JTWC issued a TCFA - TCFA should be linked/spelled out on its first usage.

Just a few little things. I'll gladly list the article as a GA once these are addressed. – Juliancolton | Talk 01:37, 18 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! Hope it's better now. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 20:41, 18 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
