Not analagous at all[edit]

Under the section, "Torah Constitution", is the following:

The Sanhedrin has declared itself to have authority to veto democratically-enacted laws which it determines are contrary to the laws of Torah. (This is analogous, for example, to the U.S. Supreme Court's ability to nullify a state law mandating segregated school systems for minorities as contrary to the Constitution).

But the U.S. Constitution can be amended via a political process; the Torah cannot. The policy described would make the Sanhedrin the supreme body in a theocratic state, as exists today in Iran. --71.174.168.90 (talk) 21:23, 18 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Given that nobody has objected to this for over 6 years, and I can see the point that 71.174.168.90 was trying to make, I have removed the sentence. Orthogonal1 (talk) 05:18, 10 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

past tense?[edit]

The first sentence is in the past tense, but the article does not support past tense. What gives? Zerotalk 11:47, 13 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

There is nothing in the article after January 2008. That may be because Adin Steinsaltz resigned as Nasi later that year as the group split among itself.[1] Activity has been very slow since then, with a handful of political statements [2] --86.185.170.71 (talk) 22:09, 25 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
