I'll be creating tables and results for the lower divisions...eventually. Alanmjohnson 14:48, 28 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Almost done...only the 3C matches remaining. Does anyone know how it is that Monaco beat Slovakia in 3D but Slovakia advanced instead? Alanmjohnson 08:16, 9 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Interesting situation in 3A. At this point, the only games remaining are between Serbia and Armenia. Each team could improve its position with a draw and a loss. Neither team, even with two victories, could improve more than one position. If they chose to collaborate, they could agree to play to a draw in the first game for two points each, putting both teams even with the team currently above them. Their second game could be played for real, even the loser would get one point and they finish 2nd (Armenia) and 4th (Serbia). Hard luck for Denmark, though, to be relegated like that. • Actually, I find the situation in both 3A and 3C interesting. In both, there are sides (Armenia, Luxembourg) who cannot change their overall positioning (with regard to promotion or relegation), but still have remaining away fixtures. Lithuania could be in this situation in 3B soon, too. With the sort of limited budgets that many small nations have, would you bother to show up? Obviously, it's very bad form to fail to show, but seriously - purchase jerseys for four local high schools, install goalposts in a city that has never yet had a regulation pitch, or fly to a match whose result is functionally irrelevant? I will be interested to see...AshleyMorton (talk) 09:34, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
    • There may be (should be) some sort of rule whereby teams that decline to travel to away games would face automatic relegation. Doesn't do much to a team for whom relegation is already assured, but it would generally keep things honest.Alanmjohnson (talk) 23:25, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
