Vettel "Robbed"?[edit]

I'm unsure about the use of the word robbed in this article seeing as Vettel was at fault. Robbed has connotations of someone committing the offence against you, not you being the offender.

People translating Japanese web pages for sources are obviously using online translators, and so the translations placed on wikipedia are making little sense. Problems with circuit[edit]

The road out of the track... SANK? Do they mean it was flooded, or was there some sort of subsidence? Turn to mud? It's rather unclear, so anyone who knows what happened, could you edit it please? mattbuck 11:11, 4 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I try to explain it. There were some such cracks[1] on the temporary road in the circuit before Thursday. The circuit ignored these cracks, because its were very tiny as you can see. These cracks split with rain and made three serious subsidences (about 1m in diameter and 25cm in depth) after the qualify session in Saturday arround 15:30, because the temporary road was rough. The road became impassable because it was also very thin[2]. Until Sunday morning, the circuit trid to repare the road with putting iron plates on the subsidences, but it did not go well. Possible Hamilton forfeit?[edit]

I read in the paper this morning that, due to some iffy driving following the Safety Car, Lewis Hamilton might be fined some championship points. Should that go in this article? 138.38.150.128 08:55, 5 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This was shown on TV news (ITV) last night - from a spectators camera - it apparently wasn't picked up by the broadcast cameras. What appears to have happend is that, approaching a left-hand bend behind the safety car, Hamilton (leading) took a very wide track to the right. The next two cars (Webber and Vettel), following the track of the safety car more closely, on the racing line. To avoid overtaking Hamilton, Webber braked,and Vettel, distracted by Hamilton being off to his right, collided with him. I find it difficult to say that Hamilton caused the accident, but I'm sure others would see it differently! regards Lynbarn 09:56, 5 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Its not a matter of difference of perspective. The fact is that, as a direct result of Hamilton's erratic or unexpected driving whilst behind the safety car in wet conditions no less, Webber could not avoid braking to avoid overtaking Hamilton under the safety car and thus, Vettel could not avoid colliding into Webber.

The actual crash between Webber and Vettel may not have been Hamilton's fault, but Hamilton cause the chain of events that had the potential to lead to those consequences and he would have to have been well aware of this, why did Hamilton drive so unexpectedly???

Comments made by Hamilton implying that he'd quit Formula One had he been penalised, only serve as a distraction to this issue, why would Hamilton say that type of thing???

Hamilton is on the back foot, he should have been penalised for dangerous driving in dangerous conditions whilst under the safety car and he cannot afford to be penalised because of his situation in the championship. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.190.196.150 (talk) 06:19, 7 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

ITV have just announced that, following interviews with the three drivers involved, Hamilton has been cleared of any blame. I don't kniow how much truth there is in this, but he was also reported to have said that, had he been penalised for this, he'd quit F1! Whatever next? Perhaps I've been closing too many three revert rule reports but there is a difference between "no violation" and "no penalty". I don't want to write that Hamilton was cleared unless that is what the FIA actually found. Sam Blacketer 13:28, 5 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Under "Lawsuit" it says...[edit]

"On 16 June 2008, 109 spectators went to Tokyo District Court and took an action against the circuit to claim total 32 million yen (US$295,500) in compensation for the bad health and missing the race by transportation problem of the shuttle buses."

Even though English is my first language, this phrase means absolutely nothing to me. "in compensation for the bad health and missing the race by..." What? I apologise if I'm the only one so utterly befuddled by this phrase, but I highly doubt that this is the case. I would like to suggest that somebody who thinks they understand this sentence correct it into something that's actually English. Use of the verb "sank" to refer to a road[edit]

"the road on the east gate of the circuit sank around 16:00." I'm not sure what the verb "sank" is supposed to convey in this sentence. Nosecohn (talk) 22:17, 5 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

It's the past tense of "sink". See: https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/sank#Verb
