Untitled[edit]

Under the qualifying information about the USL 2nd Division, it currently states that the top five teams qualify for the U.S. Open Cup. Shouldn't this read "top 6"? --Cougs2000 20:04, 8 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • It states the top 5 teams in the table. If you notice, the Richmond Kickers aren't listed in the table, as they have already qualified for the tournament. That will be noted in the page. --Otav347 20:28, 8 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
    • That clears it up. Thanks --Cougs2000 21:32, 8 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Toronto FC[edit]

The article says that 6 MLS teams qualify automatically, while 'the remaining six' playoff for the other two places available. There's 12 teams in MLS. Are we to assume, then, that Toronto FC are uneligible to compete? If so, shouldn't the article make that clear? I'm guessing the seeding of the MLS teams is down to last season's performance, as that would explain why Toronto are out of it. Either that or it's for US teams only (which wouldn't make sense as Puerto Rico's teams aren't playing because they have their own league system, so it says here). Can someone find out the facts and point them out here? I'm going on guesses, which shows that the article needs updating on this point. Psyklax 09:49, 9 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Never mind, I read a couple of the MLS press pages (including the one linked on the page) and altered the wording a little myself. Psyklax 10:00, 9 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I think the addition of the line about Toronto FC not participating is redundant. The article already states that six MLS teams qualify automatically, while the remaining six US-based MLS teams will participate in a playoff for the final two positions. I think most people would realize that a team based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada is not a US-based team. The clarification about the Puerto Rico Islanders is relevant to avoid confusion, though, as Puerto Rice is a United States unincorporated territory with Commonwealth status. --Cougs2000 15:18, 9 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Virginia Beach[edit]

Due to the termination of the Virginia Beach franchise, an Open Cup spot is left vacated. I am tentatively giving the extra spot to the 6th best team in the Second Division table. If anything otherwise is announced, I will change it accordingly. --Otav347 04:16, 21 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Article Split?[edit]

Should this article be split up? What I'm thinking is a separate article for "2007 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Qualifying." Any thoughts? --Cougs2000 14:58, 22 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That's probably a good idea. I just might create another page for that. --Otav347 21:13, 22 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The article split looks good. Thanks. --Cougs2000 14:56, 23 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Armstrong v Houston[edit]

Wasn't a pen, Wells saved the initial penalty, Armstrong rushed at the ball and it went in off his shin. BobbyAFC 04:42, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
