Unusual naming format[edit]

Is there a better title for this article, one that doesn't involve the unconventional dashes? Italiavivi 19:23, 8 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Lowest seed to win?[edit]

23rd seed Venus Williams defeated Marion Bartoli in the final, 6–4 6–1. Williams, ranked 31st at the time, remains the lowest ranked and seeded player ever to win a Grand Slam.
Goran Ivanisevic won Wimbledon as a Wild Card entry, as his ranking would not let him even get to the main draw without qualification. I'm sure that must have been much lower, probably not even Top 100. Perhaps the sentence means lowest ranked winner of women's Grand Slam? 82.141.125.149 (talk) 00:55, 24 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

And now, after looking the source and some other Grand Slam results, seems that it is only lowest for a woman and at Wimbledon. Though, as it is in the source: "lowest ranked at No. 31 and lowest seed at No. 23 to win at Wimbledon". Serena Williams won Australian Open earlier same year as unranked, so I think that is also lower. 85.217.44.122 (talk) 00:03, 29 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
