Egypt Article[edit]

For some reason the Egypt actions part turned into religious quotations and tabloid news from a very untrusted spam based source/link, I believe article needs clean up as i am Egyptian and i read the news daily, and i have not heard anything about Fatwa mentioned, And as it is not approved by Azhar, thus not in fact a Fatwa, and its just offensive to both jews and muslims, such racist remarks are rejected by Azhar/Government and i dont see any reason for that part to be in this article, Thanks, Hesham Mansour Aug 03 2009 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 41.233.71.88 (talk) 19:34, 3 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, good idea, maybe a new title should be "Swine Flu: Religious Pig Culling" or "Inaccurate Pig Culling for Swine Flu" or "Religious Pig Deaths From Swine Flue"... something of that nature. It definitely needs to be shortened, at the very least. Furthermore, all of these culls in the Middle East, specifically, are based on, obviously, a sort-of paranoia, mixed with poor education, with a lot of racial/religious bias driving it. Peoples differences and religions not only kill people, but as we can see now, it's killing animals too. NoFlyingCars (talk) 23:35, 11 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I would like to add something regarding the slaughter of pigs in Egypt. I'm Dr. Mohamed Abeid; a gastroenterologist and a specialist in tropical diseases (Cairo University, Egypt). Egypt, hard hit by the highly pathogenic & more fatal H5N1 Bird Flu Virus (Avian Flu) than any other country outside of Asia, is deeply worried about the impact of another Flu Virus. Bird Flu inflicted extensive damage to its poultry industry and economy. Pigs are seen as a possible intermediate host that can help avian flu viruses adapt to humans, because the epithelial cells in pigs' trachea can be infected by both avian and human flu virus. If avian and human viruses infected a pig at the same time, they could mix or reassort, giving rise to a novel strain that might be able to spread in humans & causing a more severe disease. Also if you see the conditions of the swine farms in Egypt, they are not healthy at all. They are hazards in themselves, even without the Swine Flu . That's why people are really getting afraid & that was years ago before the start of the Swine flu pandemic.

Random Article[edit]

I have no idea why, but there's a random essay in the middle of the section on Egypt. As far as I can tell, it completely breaks the flow of an encyclopedic article to have the entirely of an essay in the middle of it. I'm removing it and copying it over here in case somebody wants to do something with it.
