Untitled[edit]

I created this page (BriMaster2000/Due to Hacking-BriMaster2) but now I'm disgusted with it. Somebody changed the Kobalt Tools 500, an important race, to the Kentucky Speedway 400 and the Lenox Industrial Tools 301 to a different date and made the Sylvania 300, the first race of the chase, the Kentucky 400! I'm sickened. I reverted the edits, so DON'T CHANGE THEM BACK!!!

Many of these dates are uncertain or wrong, the race names and wrong and many start times are wrong. For example, the Las Vegas race will not be the Shelby 427 and will not start at night. The first Atlanta race won't be at night either. That's just a start of all the wrong info on this page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Vegashokie (talkcontribs) 20:37, 18 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

    • VegasHokie, please do not use WP:Crystal Balling for scheduling until the 2010 schedule is made official. Also, because of the Winter Olympics in Vancouver this coming February, there has been discussions on actually moving the Atlanta race to a nighttime race to compete against the Oscars. NoseNuggets (talk) 1:21 US EDT Jun 26 2009

All of this is speculation mainly the schedule hell Kentucky Speedway could get the atlanta race. And who said Jeff Gordon is retiring speculation man speculation..... Tyb222 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 21:11, 17 June 2009 (UTC).[reply]

Driver Chart[edit]

Can we start a team/driver chart? Just add each team and driver as they get confirmed. Might be easier than having to do a complete one from scratch over the winter, especially keeping up to date with sources? Oli.meggitt (talk) 11:07, 17 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Now we all know that Jeff Gordon has had back problems this year, and after that terrifying hit at the glen, Gordon said if he does return to NASCAR next year, it will be part time, so it's safe to say that Kevin Harvick, leaving RCR, will replace him. I will be changing the driver chart after every news break, so I will put Harvick in the 24, McMurray in the 1, Keselowski in the 12, etc. BriMaster2 (talk) 23:30, 30 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

BREAKING NEWS. Kevin Harvick will honor his contract and stay with RCR but will drive the 24 in 2011. Landon Cassill will be the 2010 driver of the 2010. RPM is switching from Dodge to Chevrolet if Dodge doesn't get another team besides Penske to join. Eric Darnell is replacing Bobby Labonte for the 7 of the last 12 2009 races and will fully replace him in 2010. Keselowski will be making a formal Penske announcement soon. Jeff Gordon is retiring. If I missed some news put it on the discussion page before you replace it. BriMaster2 (talk) 00:28, 1 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Come on. Don't change it from Cassill to Gordon. GORDON IS RETIRING! Ask him. ERIC DARNELL IS REPLACING BOBBY LABONTE! Ask him. BriMaster2 (talk) 04:29, 2 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Uh, I haven't heard anything about Jeff Gordon retiring or going part-time, so I changed it so that Gordon is in the #24 Dupont Chevy. Pja1981 (talk) 05:27, 4 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Agree with Pja1981. Absolutely no mention on NASCAR, Gordon, Hendrick or Jayski website I can find. A lot of info in the table is also either wrong or, more usually, not been confirmed yet. I will write a whole new table with the CONFIRMED drivers/teams/sponsors etc over the next few days to completely replace the one here. Am also tempted to remove the schedule table until an official one is announced. Oli.meggitt (talk) 16:48, 4 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I get official news from NASCAR before it is press released and I know what's up. Type in Jeff Gordon retirement on google and... BriMaster2 (talk) 02:50, 5 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

vandals[edit]

This article is too long to quicky undo the edits of vandals which revert back to prior versions from vandals. suggest short semi-protect to get page under control. B.s.n. R.N.contribs 20:48, 9 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Dooes any one know how to restore the page to a certain date or specfic edit. to correct everything at once? B.s.n. R.N.contribs 21:31, 9 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It was the work of people from CRI..they are morons. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.11.216.5 (talk) 22:48, 9 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Driver Chart Suggestion?[edit]

I have a quick suggestion in regards to the driver chart - please post your views on this! Firstly, what about splitting the table in two, into full time teams and part time teams? That way it would remove a column and make the table easier to understand.

In addition to this, with the part time teams a column could then be added to note the races they attempted/raced in.

Finally, is there a need for the 'owners points position' column? I don't think this has been updated often enough this year, making it almost incorrect and un-needed? Oli.meggitt (talk) 19:17, 14 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I think the table is starting to look messy already, if there are no objections by the end of the week, I'll separate the full and part time teams into two separate tables? Oli.meggitt (talk) 18:17, 24 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

5 Team closed Nascar Rules[edit]

Some entries in the team/driver chart now say "5 Team closed Nascar Rules". I first thought this was vandalism, trying to say: "The #5 team has been closed (i.e. Martin sucks). Nascar RULES!" On further thought, it seems the intended meaning is: This car/crew has been closed down since Nascar no longer will allow 5-car teams from 2010. Since I am not sure if that is what it is supposed to mean, and can't really come up with a simple enough way to say it, I have left it for now, but I think it would be good with an improved choice of words. /Coffeeshivers (talk) 15:43, 28 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Start times[edit]

Why are we giving the start time as the begining of the TV broadcast instead of the planned green flag time? Not only does this make the article US-centric, but it ignores the start time of radio broadcasts.Mustang6172 (talk) 05:27, 18 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The times listed are from the official schedule at nascar.com. [1] If you have a good source for the actual green flags times then post it and we can discuss it. :) We could, however, add in the radio start time as well. (The official schedule as of now only lists the times for the MRN radio shows, and in general those all start one hour before the listed TV time.) --Wean0r (talk) 10:09, 18 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Standings...[edit]

Urgh! For a hundredth freakin' time! Couldn't anybody really put the Cup Standings in somewhere here? This is still probably the ONLY major motorsport series WITHOUT a current championship standings list.82.141.119.174 (talk) 23:59, 18 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

ahahha true, im here for same reason, for the standings i read the montoya page :/ —Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.20.197.160 (talk) 17:44, 20 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The race articles (2010 race name) has the top five in drivers standings and the top four in manufacturer standings. Nascar1996 Contributions / Guestbook 00:21, 18 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Results Table[edit]

Should we have a table like the following showing the positions over the season, it will also incorperate a standings chart so that people can see the current standings, if every one thinks it ok then i can start creating it. MotorSportMCMXC (talk) 02:12, 11 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Comment: I agree that this NEEDS to have current standings, preferably near the top of the page. However, I see a couple of problems with adapting the F1 table:
  • Number of drivers: F1 has only 24 drivers on the grid this season. Each Cup race has 43 drivers. When you add in part-timers, it's safe to say that more than twice as many drivers earn points in a typical Cup season than in a typical F1 season.
  • Number of races: F1 currently has 19 races, while the Cup Series has 36.
My idea:
  • Have a complete points table in the season article, updated after every race.
  • In each individual race article:
    • Races 1-25: Complete table after each race. IMHO, it should also include points earned in that race, plus number of places gained/lost in the standings.
    • Race 26 (One Last Race to Make the Chase): Complete table before the points reset, plus a separate table of the Chase drivers after the reset.
    • Chase races: Complete table, separated into Chase and non-Chase drivers, after each race.
What does everyone think? — Dale Arnett (talk) 06:32, 9 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
SUPPORT: You can do it for this season, but I'm making sure it will happen next season! I'm not going to do it exactly how you are saying but it will be close. Nascar1996 Contributions / Guestbook 23:11, 17 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Well thank whatever there's finally a results table that's actually legible and similar to every other series finally here... Hopefully next year there can be a standardized layout for the three main NASCAR series, similar to what this article is currently like now? TheChrisD RantsEdits 00:37, 11 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I am planning it. Nascar1996 00:54, 11 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Race Results[edit]

OK, since I'm apparently doing something wrong with updating the results table with the results of the race not long after it finishes, as I keep getting reverted for some reason, how exactly so I be going about updating it then? TheChrisD RantsEdits 20:52, 19 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I am not sure, but it seems that Wean0r wants to update the table, but the vandalism part of it came from the edit description. I quess he found it not in good faith. Also, everyone makes mistakes, so please don't take it too seriously. If you would like please join our project. We have tons of tables needing updating.Nascar1996 21:00, 19 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The primary reason for the massive outburst in the edit description is pretty much in detail on his talk page, which I'll presume you've read given your status as a talk page stalker :P
It's also pretty much my first instance of direct undoing following one or more users attempting to edit a results table shortly after the race ends. I know that both myself and Cs-wolves have a little friendly rivalry when it comes to updating the IndyCars and Indy Lights following events, but in the end if one person beats the other there's just a little bit of friendly banter following and no harm is done. Okay, so how would you like to join WP:NASCAR? Nascar1996 21:36, 19 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
