Direct hits and landfall

I just neede to know, what does the term "direct hit, no landfall" mean? I have seen this in many pages. Rishabh Tatiraju (talk) 05:28, 14 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Either the eyewall crosses land while the center of the eye comes ashore, or winds of the actual intensity at the time come ashore, we call it Direct hit. --Anirudh Emani (talk) 07:12, 14 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
According to the explanation at the NHC website we distinguish landfalls, strikes, and direct hits. In this graphic all the islands were striked by the cyclone, but only island B has a landfall, island A was hit directly, island C only indirectly. Note that the darker blue area denotes the radius with the strongest winds; according to the NHC definition which in the Northern hemisphere is that on the left side identic with the inner eye wall radius, on the right side twice that radius. Okay, reed it in the NHC glossar, which certainly explains it better than me. --Matthiasb (talk) 17:31, 15 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Jal Intensity[edit]

Why has jal been downgraded to a Tropical Storm on the SSHS. Want it a C1 TC?? --Anirudh Emani (talk) 09:58, 21 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The JTWC conducted their annual review of the tropical cyclones in 2010. In the "Best Track", Jal was downgraded into a tropical storm. — Ines(talk) 11:21, 21 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Season Summary - Brand New table[edit]

Guys,
I've invented a new way of saying whether the season is above average/below average/normal,
I hope you like it.

Arguments[edit]

According to the "season effects" chart, Bandu's max winds were 50mph, Phet's were 90mph, and Giri's were 105mph, but the infobox for Bandu says max winds were 45mph, Phet's were 100mph, and Giri's were 120mph. Giri and Phet's articles both agree with infoboxes, but as there is no article on Bandu, I'm not sure which is correct... 99.135.173.204 (talk) 22:49, 29 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
