Untitled[edit]

Is calling this article "Next Welsh devolution referendum" not a bit of a presentism? Surely put the date in - or if the date isn't avaiable, don't create an article until it is. See WP:CBALL Marwood 17:36, 17 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If events are clearly planned, there is nothing in CBALL against creating articles containing verifiable information for said events. We have articles on future elections regularily, so I see no harm in having this article, as well. —Nightstallion 11:41, 18 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Gwynedd turnout[edit]

Can someone check the turnout in Gwynedd? The BBC is reporting a 43 per cent turnout! Skinsmoke (talk) 14:46, 4 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

That was quick! Now changed. Skinsmoke (talk) 14:48, 4 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The provisional turnout by BBC was a lot lower but each result was initially taken from BBC and confirmed from the Electoral Commission website - but on the ball here! Madscotinengland (talk) 15:47, 4 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Results map[edit]

I would just like to point out that in the legend the pink area is said to represent a 'No" vote of less than 50%. Should this be changed to greater than (>), or to show a 'Yes' vote of less than 50%? --Gogleddcymru (talk) 11:48, 5 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Other option - just get rid of the % next to the No and make it 'No' on its own? Madscotinengland (talk) 12:13, 5 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I don't have any strong preferences on which option is best - all those suggested seem equally clear to me. But, it should be changed, and then if there is any significant dissent with the option chosen it can be changed again. Ghmyrtle (talk) 13:14, 5 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Powers pre-referendum[edit]

I have made a small correction to the first section which was not consistent with the rest of the article. It suggested that there was need for Parliament's approval to make any law. As it says later on (and as indeed the referendum question itself said) the Assembly could make laws in some areas but not others - there was only need for parliament's approval for the "other" matters on which the Assembly could not already make its own laws. Tralban (talk) 13:45, 21 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Provisional national turnout[edit]

The electoral commission website at http://referendumresults.aboutmyvote.co.uk/en/default.aspx gives Provisional national turnout: 35.2%, however the electoral commission full report available at http://www.electoralcommission.org.uk/elections/upcoming-elections-and-referendums/wales/?a=118603 gives a turnout rate of 35.6% (page 3). Should the full report be taken as being more accurate? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.151.83.29 (talk) 01:48, 5 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. Provisional figures are, by nature, estimates. Final, accurate figures should be shown here. Daicaregos (talk) 13:07, 5 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

2011 Welsh devolution referendum2011 Welsh devolution law-making powers referendum – This referendum although is related to Devolution was about weither or not the Welsh Assembly should have Law making powers rather than a transfer of fresh powers from Westminster and the current title does not this and could be confused with the Welsh devolution referendum that was held back in 1997 2A02:C7F:5622:2000:8829:BF7E:C48:4D4B (talk) 09:59, 10 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose Overly-detailed. The current title is sufficiently succinct. Number 57 10:55, 10 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose The year is sufficient disambiguation, surely? I feel like the lead makes it perfectly clear, really. Ralbegen (talk) 17:57, 16 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment - 2011 Welsh Assembly referendum would be more accurate. GoodDay (talk) 18:57, 16 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose: It's overcomplicating something that doesn't need to be overcomplicated. I would, however, support a move to 2011 Welsh Assembly referendum as that does seem more accurate. The 1997 referendum was about the devolution of power to a Welsh Assembly. Any further referenda are about tweaking the powers of that body. This is Paul (talk) 20:39, 16 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
